Thoughts on this sporadic idle afr reading:

    https://youtube.com/shorts/H6AwD0UNTdU?feature=share

Seems to level out the longer I let it run, but oscillates like this when cooler or even luke warm ( this video was after I let cool down for maybe an hour)...

Idle on the first start today was low again as well, but after warming up for a bit it works itself back to normal. I have checked and rechecked all my clamps and even sprayed carb cleaner around each joint but nothing affects the RPMs when doing so, except letting it run for a longer period of time.

Also, discovered that my oil feed line is leaking at the compression/clamp fitting, above the turbo...! Thought it was my connections just weren't tight enough but nope so got a new one of them on the way (2 actually), so I haven't wanted to run it much but down the street to gas it up, nice and smokey when I got home..

Colder thermostat is in also, keeping it at a nice 176*. Next up on the list is the Split Second Enrichner, which I got the T Tap wire connections for and finally sourced the color coding of the signal wire (AFR+) from the ECU (Violet).

The after start enrichment and various warm up cycles that the stock computer goes through before it enters full closed loop function will lead to all sorts of weird results cuz it's not looking at the AFR either

Ok that is good to read/hear as it was what I was thinking, and was attributing it to the ECU learning its new normal :)

    Thanks!

How's things going on your project? Still waiting on parts or you out street tuning it yet?

Once I get this oil feed line figured out, ill work on some of those fly by videos for you and the widow maker!

You never had the WB hooked up before party mode, so you never saw what it was doing. @Speedytech7 on point.

I'm making progress of my tune. I think my base fuel map is sound, so now it's onto the transient throttle tuning to improve revs.

The stock ECU's expect the primary O2 sensor placement to be a specific length from the exhaust valve. The time taken to move the air from the MAF through the motor to the O2 sensor is factored into the fueling equations. If you've moved or more precisely increased/decreased the length of the exhaust tract before the sensor, the ECU is sampling a O2 mixture that isn't attributed to the airflow the MAF read. Many ECU's have a transient delay map to map this, however I've not seen one for the Toyota platforms. I believe this value to be hardcoded and thus if moved you'll find the system will oscillate more than it would in stock configuration. See it often with trucks that have long-tube headers (O2's moved to collector).

... oh reading this again I think you meant pre turbo. No, no WB pre turbo but I would watch Torque app and don't recall it swinging that bad.. but my obdii reader refresh rate is slow so likely why I missed it.

Yea, I recall seeing this somewhere and will have to dig it up. I seem to remember something like 12" from the original exhaust manifold.. which the o2 port on the cx racing lengthen that a bit. I have read of others issues regarding this, and I seem to remember it was due to the o2 not seeing enough heat.. which I tried to rectify with exhaust rap so we will see how it goes. But I know that eventually it may be migrating up closer to the WB bung area.

I did mean before the turbo was installed. I thought the afr guage was just recently installed. Probably reads different than the app.

Yea it wasn't installed before turbo. WB is much faster response than Torque app for sure!

Got some exhaust on it. Need to make the bed exit piece and cut the downpipe just a tad cause it just is too low. But taking a 1/2" off should raise it enough.

I'm thinking I can arrange that today. Gonna have some help after work. I'll try to raise the exhaust up just a touch and then some road tuning hopefully ending in a flyby.

It got kinda late so I'll have to give the flybys tomorrow or Friday. But did a solid 3.5hrs of street tuning. Played with the boost control until we were at 5.5psi and stopped there for the evening.
