RADAR CHECK: Large areas of rain are over parts of North,Central, and Southeast Alabama just before daybreak, all rotating around an upper low passing over the state. Off and on showers remain possible today, but they should thin out greatly this afternoon as the upper low moves on to the east. Temperatures will be well below average, with highs only in the mid 70s over the northern half of the state. South Alabama will see a high near 80 this afternoon.

REST OF THE WEEK: Dry air returns to Alabama tonight, and the weather will be rain-free for most of the state tomorrow through Friday with just a few isolated showers around. Expect mostly sunny days, fair nights, and highs in the low to mid 80s.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: A quiet weather pattern will continue into the holiday weekend. We will maintain the chance of a few isolated showers Saturday through Monday, but the chance of any one spot getting wet each day is 15-25 percent. Otherwise, we are forecasting a good supply of sunshine daily with highs holding in the low to mid 80s.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected for the next seven days. The season officially begins June 1.

However, in the Pacific, extremely dangerous Super Typhoon Mawar is now packing sustained winds of 155 mph, and is about 140 miles southeast of Guam. The typhoon will likely move over the island in 24-36 hours with potential for major, widespread damage.

ON THIS DATE IN 1968: One of the costliest hailstorms in Oklahoma City history pummeled the city on this date. Hail the size of baseballs fell over much of the city, resulting in more than 40,000 insurance claims over the 90,000 square mile path of the storm. The final cost was more than $20 million.

I just replaced the driver side LCA with a new OEM one. I know you aren’t suppose to torque the cam bolts until the weight of truck is on the ground but when I release the jack, the suspension stays at full droop. The cam bolts aren’t tight, the LCA should swing freely, any ideas?

 

I'm on my phone and it won't let me copy and paste, but on 2nd gen there's a thread for tightening lower control arm bolts back in 18 if that helps.

 

Found this back on torque specs page 1 . 100lbs.

RADAR CHECK: We have some “illegal” rain across Central Alabama early this morning (that means rain was wasn’t forecast)… mostly south of I-20. Models have not handled this pattern well; there is an upper low involved along with a nearly stationary front over the southern counties of the state. We will need to maintain the chance of some lingering scattered light rain today, but a decent part of the state will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Expect a high in the 78-82 degree range this afternoon; Birmingham’s average high for May 24 is 84.

A more meaningful push of dry air arrives tomorrow; the sky will be mostly sunny with a high in the mid 80s.

FRIDAY AND THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND: The weather still looks favorable Friday through Monday across Alabama with generally dry conditions and below average temperatures. A surface low will form east of the state, and showers are likely across Georgia and the Carolinas; for now we will mention only isolated showers each day for Alabama, mostly during the afternoon and evening hours. The chance of any one spot getting wet daily is 15-20 percent. Otherwise, expect partly to mostly sunny days and fair nights. The high Friday will be close to 80, followed by mid to upper 70s Saturday and Sunday. Monday’s high will be in the low 80s for Memorial Day.

It was has been moving at only 5-10 mph, meaning a prolonged period of wind, storm surge, and flooding for the island. Conditions will begin to improve in 12 hours or so.

ON THIS DATE IN 1973: An F4 tornado tore through the small town of Union City, Oklahoma, killing two and injuring four others. This tornado was the first storm to be studied in detail by the National Severe Storms Laboratory Doppler Radar Unit at Norman, OK and an armada of researchers in the field. Research of the radar data from the storm would lead to the discovery of a “TVS,” or Tornado Vortex Signature.
