Likewise, there are quite a few of us here whose Tacos sat at Lazaro Cardenas for two or three months before they went onto the ship to California. I still find it amazing that the best way from Mexico to Houston goes through the SF Bay area, but with the current railcar shortage, that is probably the best way for Gulf States to handle it.

The indication of a new QC hold has me a little worried. We have already been through one, I really hope we don't get hit with another. It has been 11 days now for the large Taco Train's journey from Benicia to Houston, and so far no update from the Toyota App indicating it is being unloaded. That should happen soon. In the mean time, it is also time for an update from the master, @DragonPro23. Let's see if any of the info has changed (maybe a railcar id?) since the last one 8 days ago.

    My vin is: 3TYAZ5CNXPT030231

    Thanks again, Dave!

@DragonPro23 Is there any chance you could check the status of a 23 TRD-Pro I have ordered?

Hmmm. No change in three weeks. But importantly, no addition of any hold. It would be interesting to know how many vehicles are on that train; I bet it is in the hundreds.

@DragonPro23 , question - who arranges vehicle transportation from the factory - is it Toyota or the distributor (in my case GST)?
I can imagine that with the limited number of vehicle transport railcars, and the need to move the empty ones to where they are needed, logistics is a big nightmare.
I wonder how many of the railcars are parked, full of vehicles waiting to be unloaded, at the distributors. Kind of makes me want to go back to stargazing...

And again Dave, a huge thank you for the info!

GST has a lot of space to place cars in the queue and then you wait…..

@FBHam Dealer text me today and said June 5. I haven’t had any activity from the Toyota app. Also, I told my dealer I might just wait for the 2024, but I was still thinking about it.

@DragonPro23 Could you run this VIN 3TMCZ5AN8PM595228

Got a call from my dealer today that there was a qc 30 day hold put on a bunch of trucks at the Kansas City rail head. Curious what the details are showing. Thanks in advance!

So Houston GST, Kansas City Logistics Park, and Chicago Logistics Park (that’s where mine sits) are all in a QC hold that started the same time. I am thinking it’s related to checks for Tech package software and/or the cameras. Someone posted link to Tundra QC thread that was saying it’s often tech software they are checking. Seems logical. They also stated length of hold is engineer availability dependent. Unless my qc hold drops fast I’m probably looking at 4July times as I can’t get to dealer much in June. I have paperwork on my trade since late March. Dealer seems honest and is holding numbers on paper. But I went from 111k miles on trade in in late March to probably 115-116k miles now from this waiting period. My deal wasn’t to lower msrp (I bought at msrp with a lot of port ad ins but no dealer crazy packages like ‘protection pkg’) but to raise their trade value. Longer I wait is to my advantage.

These tech qc reviews make me cringe thinking of ‘24 tech upgrades and that gawd awful billboard display screen in the middle of the dash. Idk but that ‘24 interior didn’t get me excited. The handle next to the shift knob as well…?? Cmon ‘23…..

Nothing official but my timeline was: truck showed up at Chicago Logistics Park 5/12.
By 5/15 the delivery to dealership date got more specific and posted 5/17-5/25.
I fully expected it NLT this week.
5/22 I got the dealer call it was in ‘QC hold up to 30 days’.
That day I started seeing a lot of others posting they were informed their vehicles went into the QC timeout.
So I’d guess the QC hold was dropped 5/21-22?

Is there anyway to tell if it is in fact at the Kansas City logistics park?
