Anyone have this error code: P05042B. Brake Switch "A"/"B" Signal Cross Coupled

I was driving 2 days ago and got brake override malfunction, when I went to start the car again it refuses. Power is fine 100% and techstream gave me that error code. Tried clearing it, continues to come. My tail lights are aftermarket, and one of them got beat up around the same time. So I unplugged all 3 bulbs from it but still no luck.

Anyone have ideas, this seems like a weak excuse for a tow to the shop!

    Thanks

I can't access that webpage, but wouldn't the truck still start without brake lights plugged in? just trying to narrow real-world things down because I strongly doubt the harness went bad yesterday. No offroading in weeks, vermin issues are rare at most around here etc. I figure someone has dealt with this here

I think you mean traditional fly by cable. This truck is fly by wire.

The remote start does not require the brake system to be electrically energized by the pedal. The push button logic requires that signal. Since the truck wont start with the push button, I would start with the brake pedal switch. Do the brake lights come on when you press the pedal? If not, short the wires at the brake switch connector and see if they come on then and try to start the truck.

you can tell how pissy I am this morning about it just by that haha! yes you are right.

They do come on, I also feel it stiffen up when it starts (Not sure if that's strictly hydraulic or electronic aswell. One of my tail lights got hit like I was saying within 24 hours of this so I sort of assume its related there. But will this truck literally not start without a working tail light? I was hoping just unplugging all 3 bulbs would nullify that. Am i thinking wrong?

I would venture to say the impact might have shorted out a couple wires and it has nothing to do with the bulbs being plugged in or not. So no, I don't think your thinking is wrong but maybe there is more damage you can't see.

theres no damage to the harness or the bulbs, literally just tapped the plastic and made a line. didn't move the housing either so i don't think it stressed the harness at all. very confused. is there any way to force start the vehicle? at the bare minimum would love to make it through the work week and then spend some time this weekend or drive it to the mechanic (not tow haha)

If you press and hold the push to start button long enough (it seems like forever) it will start without applying the brakes. That should work if the issue is the truck thinking that the brakes are not applied.
