Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
i used a lot of dual shield back in the eighties .

We used it in new construction and outages Inside outside once you had it dialed in it ran so smooth.

At times Doors were opened it felt like you were in a wind tunnel . Hard wire alone lost time repairing welds.

It was great doing spray arc transfer on 1/2" plus plate.

well. that is not going to work...

    20230520_132845.jpg

finally got around to installing the bumper, and discovered a a problem.

Not sure if it is all weld distortion, or a the frame being tweaked on that side, that was discovered when the lift was installed or a combination of the two. But I not in the mood to mess with it further, and discover that once the trim is cut it will not work or look right.

What's the problem? Just bush it with washers until it's the same on both sides.

Both my bumpers had that issue. I forgot about it until you reminded me with your pic. Must not hurt anything because they close ten years running since I built them. Lol.

    You got this.

Those tabs are really flimsy. You can just tighten down the mounting bolts and they'll "self-correct" by forming to the bumper mounts. I would make sure both sides were loose and tighten them slowly going back and forth so both sides bend evenly. Not a huge deal if you ask me.

The "tension" (or need to bend back) just works as a natural loctite :burp:

Those tabs are so flimsy they won’t want to bend back. You can almost bend them by hand. Haha. Either way, I wouldn’t stress the install- just tighten everything down and be GTG.

Welded up one helmet, drilled out rivets out of another, welded up some cracked gauntlets, welded one of the faceguards on another helmet, and a few more misc items

I was just at renaissance fair a couple weeks ago. I always stop by the blacksmith booth to see what they’re up to.

My brother in law does the full-contact version where they go all out last-man-standing.

The tournaments his team attends go international even; few weeks ago he was in Florida for a big one.

I've stuck to only fixing his personal stuff.

Apparently they would normally go to either their former team captain, or one of two places other teams have used. But one guy sucked at welding and the other guy just never had the proper tooling cause I did yesterday's work in just an hour.

Apparently half the work would've been an all day job for the other guys.

Brother in law said he's going to let his whole team know as well as others for that side hustle.

Billing 8 hours for a one hour job- that sounds like a military contact.

Any videos of this craziness? I watched a legit joisting at one of these years ago - turns to it was the championship of a TV reality show where they followed them for the season ... and it was completely bonkers to see the carnage up close. You might turn into the most important part of their crew re-enforcing the armor.

Sad part is, one of those things that took forever was literally just drilling through hardenerd steel. My brother in law said he has no idea why it took so long but he was there for a few hours waiting to get it done. Drill just wouldn't bite apparently.

I didn't want to swing out the drill press so I used my hand drill and 30 seconds with a cobalt bit, easy as pie.

Had to drill out a few rivets too.
