I've owned my truck for over 5 years, most of that time it has been our only family vehicle. I figure I have another 4 years before my son is too big to sit in the back (he's 8 now). We've done multiple 500 mile days, no complaints from him. I sit back there sometimes to play cards with him. I'm 5'10", my wife is 5'8". Guess I should be on the search for one of the last 4 cylinder 4x4 5 speeds, or just go with a 3rd gen manual access cab.

Fun to speculate but I prefer solid sources. To each their own.

What the hell is a "real" truck? By that logic, no 1 ton or 3/4 ton trucks would have a king or crew cab. There's no bar to entrance from buying a truck apart from cash. I'm pretty sure I've hauled more yards of gravel in my 4 cylinder truck than 99% of half tons out there. Our family piano moving business used to use Toyotas exclusively for their low deck height. Removing seats gets old really fast, and having a compartmentalized bed is nice for moving gravel, garbage, jerry cans, etc.

I use 4x4 less than 10% of the time, but when you need it it, you need it!Same for back seats.

No manual option with the SR for the 2 door AFAIK.

I agree they have missed the mark on the 24 model ...longer wheel base n 3 inches wider ..2.4 turbo that gets same gas milage as v6 .

It's an odd choice, IMO, not because the logic but because of the dimensions. They could have made the extra cab shorter and given it a longer bed (6.5? 7?) and the same wheelbase or the same length bed and a shorter wheelbase. Instead, they basically gimped the access cab for a lot of users (myself included), because they made the rear storage area less accessible for storing large items (eg: fridges) and pets by keeping the same dimensions but removing the door.

Maybe once the Tacoma gets sorted out we will see a 6th gen 4Runner, with a better front bumper li kg e Toyota did with the Sequioa. Toyota might just skip the 4Runner, the Tacoma can handle most of what the 4Runner can do. It almost makes no sense to build a 4Runner, midsize SUV with three rows are kind of squished for interior room, and every family of 4 needs 3 rows for some reason. Would Toyota use the long wheel base chasis for the new 4Runner? Seems kind of pointless for offroading and going with a long WB and three rows. Might as well get the Sequioa that has more power. The Grand Highlander is much more burb and urb freindly, and isnt the 4th gen mechanically a Highlander on a solid frame?

Nobody knows if Toyota can produce enough Tacomas between the two factories in Mexico, it makes zero financial sense for Toyota to build a NA 4R in Japan and ship to the US.

By the time Toyota prices the 6th gen 4R which isn't a volune leader to begin with, it's not a Tacoma. The 4R will cost as much as a Sequioa.

The access cab is a really nice feature to have, but I echo what some others are saying that if one really needs rear cab access with a door to that extent, than they would just be better off with a double cab.

I won’t speak for everyone, but I certainly wouldn’t be better off than what I have now for my use:
*2019 Access Cab Utility Package (no back seats) - storage room in back from floorboard to bottom of back glass, easily more volume than a dual cab with back seats.
    * Long bed - without having to get an extra long DCLB with less maneuverability.

Time to boycott. I say we all take our Tacomas out and shoot them with shotguns, run over them with steam rollers, and set them on fire.

    Who's with me?!
