Unfortunely I had to pay the shipping :/ The nearest distributor was 3 hours away, and I would have still had to pay LTL to have it shipped there. $300 shipping for the 8020 was brutal. Thanks for the other link!

What's a good place to find 80/20 if I only need 5 feet? Can it be found at big-box hardware stores or do I need to go thru one of the online places? I don't mind paying more since I'm just needing a small amount and I want the instant gratification!

How is everyone managing this little area circled in the picture? When closed it still leaves a small gap on either side of the hinge and I am getting water inside from that area on every hinge. Just curious if everyone is getting that or maybe I'm missing something.

I silicone sealed behind the hinge. Those bulb seals are meant to go on static side, not the door side imo. So i have a continuous bulb running along the top side of spaceframe.

Has anyone had issues with the side panels catching wind at freeway speeds? seems like the southco latch needs to be further forward or if theres a way to help stiffen it more than the aluminum angle

Agreed static side on the bulb seal.

I also have minor leakage on those hinges. I'm going to have to shoot it up good with silicone.

How are your latches presently set? I don't have issues with air on the hwy IIRC.
However I do want to re do the bulk head panel so that it protrudes beyond the bulbseal/side panels as I expect extra wear on that due to the situation.

Wow.. hands down the coolest thread out there.
Congratz to everyone thats tackeld this and ofc to @Ripcord. a true TW legend.

I'm still working through this thread, but curious if the 3rd gen plans take into account the shark fin antenna? I'd prefer not to modify this piece. but could alter the plans pretty easy to accunt for it.

I guess I should just purchase the plans already.. ha

    thanks all!

Here are a few pictures of the pop mechanism. It’s made of 16 ga. 1/2” square tube and some 3/4” angle. It has (2) slide bolts that lock the panel when up. Challenging part was designing it so there was room for the canvas when closed as shown in the last picture.

This end up selling? I made a RTT version back in Jan 21, but wanted to do a V2 or sell it to someone to do a V2 but this may bridge that gap.. Mines 80"L but think the 10" difference might be adaptable..

For the most part I used 16ga. Here is a picture of the frame. The lower portion and verticals are 1" square 16ga. The portion that goes over the cab is 1"x2"x14ga. The window opening verticals are 3/4"x1/8" angle, and the window horizontals are 1/2"x1/8" flat stock (this way the windows could clamp the frame not just the ACM). I used some 1"x1/2" 16ga. for the top frame to save weight but honestly wish I would have just done 1" square there as the weight savings was minimal and it created more work for me in the long run.

Thank you so much for the instruction and pics, good to know the wooden platform, t-slot in my area(nb canada) gets insane, 15 serious ,1.5x1.5x 10 ft, cad$300 a piece plus tax, and just saw your configuration, if applied all 1" 16g, would be around 120lbs for the frame only but including the topper, will following yours, but bit hard to find 1x1x16g in my area

I’m on the wrong coast for building one of these and then trying to sell it. I dislike the east coast even more now
