It is all total speculation but with new hybrid engine, bigger brakes, electronic tailgate, electronic headlights, suspension seats, new trailer system, 2,400w power, heated and vented everything; the 4th gen pro is going to be considerably more than the rebadged SR5 that the Pro is currently.

So what it all boils down to is that I've spent the past 2 years dreaming about a truck that's going to cost significantly more than what I'm willing to pay.

Depends on which trim you were dreaming about

I would speculate that the lower trims like the SR5 or more basic TRD models shouldn't ballon too much over current prices. Toyota has gone all out at the top end though so those will have an eye-watering price tag

I want a truck that rides nice on the pothole-filled Pennsylvania roads, where I do 99.99% of my driving.

Who is the market for a $68,000 TRD Pro?

$10,000 over a Ranger Raptor. $2,500 less than a Tundra TRD Pro. Hell I could find a used TRX for the low $70’s.

So yes there is a lot of new tech and additions to these trucks that warrant the idea of a major price increase...but since this trucks shares a global platform so you have commonality between models, shared parts etc...maybe that allowed them to keep cost down? Obviously still gonna be an increase but maybe not as crazy as everyone thinks??

The issue is that above $55-60 it's going to negatively affect the amount of units they can push out the door. A new 23 Colorado ZR2 starts at $51k, the 24 Ranger Raptor at $55k, and a Gladiator Rubicon at $51k. The 24 Pro has nothing that makes it worth $10k over any of these other trucks.

I am just pulling numbers out of thin air, but it does have more equipment than any of its competitors.
Namely, the isodynamic seating (whether you see value in that or not, it will cost more) and the hybrid setup.

No it isn't. It's at the front right side of the engine. It's probably going to be one of the easier turbos to remove from Toyota in recent years.

    Conventional.

The T24A-FTS in other Toyota models (Crown, Highlander) specify 87 octane, but have lower power output. The T24A in Lexus models (NX, RX, etc.) have higher output and specify 91 octane.

The Tacoma has higher output than either, so may require 91, but with a larger intercooler or similar, they may have been able to get away with 87.

I think all of the features they added are cool, and I know it will be more expensive. My point is just that the bean counters at corporate set the price targets (not the product development team), and I would be surprised if the MSRP on the PRO is above the Ranger Raptor. The Trail Hunter is a little more difficult to figure out because in a few video's I've watched, they made it out that a lot of the bed bars/roof racks are not included in the base Trail Hunter and are instead Toyota accessories much like the TRD lift kit introduces a couple of years ago.

Speaking of other trims, this reveal so far has been sort of a total F'n downer for those of us that are going to be lucky to be repeat OR buyers, or want to see the SR5. Heck, I really want to see what an SR has on it.

Enough with the Halo stuff Toyota. And the Sport lol.

Same as mainland. We do get the cheapest entune stereos though to offset it though.

    Really?! Damn.

I just felt like when I went there everything was expensive. Was a long time ago though.

Edit: maybe not expensive but def an addition cost on most things I would normally get around where I lived in TX.

USPS is the same. 4% sales tax doesn’t suck either.

I would guess 9/10 off road buyers will take the front locker on an ZR2 over gimmicky seats as so many here have put it.

I would take the TRD Pro and it’s trick seats all day over the ZR2.

The Ranger Raptor, ZR2/AT4X, and TRD Pro/Trail hunter are all impressive trucks though. I look forward to the shootout comparison between them

I wonder if they meant commercial duty price. That’s more accurate.
