I have a visual in my head but a sketch would absolutely help.

Right out of the gate, though, 2x4 vs 2x6 will be dependent on the span.

Totally get it with the picture!
You could use something like E trac with lumber pockets keep it tight to the wall. Otherwise I would say you need to discuss with an engineer or architect. Your span will dictate what type of structure will be needed. You could also use SIPs for this to reduce weight. Lots of options depends on uses and weight.

Interesting. How often would you be putting the temp floor in?

You prob could get a way with 2x4 for the span, but would have to be in sections, especially around the hand rail.

The other thing might work is a aluminum atv ramp frame. cut to fit past the hand rail and use 1/2 plywood to cover that. Hope that makes sense

Yes.. the floor would be in 3 sections for removal and installation with a notch for the hand rail area.

The floor will be 3/4 inch plywood that's boxed in under it which will make them heavier but not undoable.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Have you explored the option of one hinged section with a pulley system to raise and lower it? Like a horizontal door?

I thought about that but my intent is to use the wall space so the door would have no where to rest when out of the way.

Do you plan on leaving the 2x in place and just removing the 3/4 ply?

Yes.. the lip will remain in place and the "flooring" will be the only part removable

Use 2x4 doug fir. Make sure you find center of stud and secure it to the wall with 4" SDS screws. One per stud is more then strong enough. Paint it the same color as the wall and it'll blend just fine.

    @Kilo Charlie

I like this option. Overkill, probably, but will be the cleanest looking and safest option since everything locks into place.

    One of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J4K9UWA?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

    One of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/Brackets-Fittings-Cargo-Tie-Down-Tiedowns/dp/B01CD8RU3G?th=1

And a couple of 2x4's to span between. It looks like 3/4" ply can span at most 36" but with (5) 2x4's, you'll be more in the wheelhouse of 26".

Hello everyone, yesterday I noticed something that I could use some solid advice on. I am getting ready to get back onto the deck project, I was looking everything over when I noticed that 1 of the 2 2x10's that I used to make the deck beam has split all of the way through about a foot from the edge.

The entire interior 2x10 seems to be getting check cracks but none are as bad as the one on the end.

The important question- do I need to take it down and make a new beam or just use it the way that it is? The entire beam has PL400 in between them and the structural screws on each side ( as dictated by the residential deck guide that my county adopted as their code standards).

So it was finally time to take down that old TV antenna and also get rid of some evergreens.

This winter we had some brutal winds, which snapped the bracket attached to the house. So, it was leaning pretty good. I called it the leaning tower of Buchanan Trail

    So, some sketchy stuff later...

Have a load of mulch coming tomorrow, so that should make it look better.

This was the overgrown mess that was there last summer...

I replaced my Tesla charger today. Old one was having problems, Tesla remoted in to diagnose it, then sent me a new one free. It was four screws and it went off the base and back on super easy. Looks the same before and after so I didn't take pics. Hardest part was getting the old one back in the box to send back to them.
