Just edited it. Says full time 4WD, but it acted more like an AWD, yeah?

If memory serves me, believe they raided the parts bin of an AWD Astro Van for the Syclone

Ahh so that is how the Syclone came about. Those Astro’s were THE moto hauler van to have among a lot of my moto buddies years ago.

There is a 1000 hp AWD Chevelle in France of all places that has front diff out of Syclone.

My parents had an AWD Safari when I was in high school. It was a pretty nice vehicle. They wouldn’t let me take the seats out and put my dirt bike in it though. :( It would make a perfect Overlanding vehicle today.

Ranger Raptor base starting price is $56900 (you forgot destination). The new Pro will definitely be in that range.

A van would work better for me over truck, considered an Astro… however they are getting so long in the tooth. Tired of monkeying around with old vehicles. Looked at AWD Transits, didn’t really like what I saw on the undercarriage, rag joints on the driveshaft for one thing. Too bad Toyota doesn’t bring the HiAce over here

Yeah, be a great overland, plunking around to trailheads vehicle.

You can’t even buy a wrangler manual right now or you wouldn’t want to due to the fracturing clutch plates from overheating. It’s a massive recall and I couldn’t test drive a new wrangler because of it today.
    Also,
Warining to anyone who is thinking of driving a ranger: the brakes are terrible on it. It’s very inconsistent and you have to press the pedal almost all the way down to get the truck to stop. This is what I felt from a 20’ and a 23’ that I just test drove today. Coming to a stop at low speed felt like I had no brake assist. Possible a defect with the braking system with this motor.

That one with the pop up roof is nice. I would love a 4x4 van for snowboard season. All that room to store gear and get dressed would be great.

Yeah it is. I looked hard at the Transits, and do a GTRV poptop. https://gtrv.com/ the Transit isn’t built burly enough for me the cost to justify it. Do like the idea of a van over a truck, used to have a VW Westy, loved not having to go outside to get into the back, but a Tacoma and one of those topper campers is just built better and much more capable.

Hiatus is my favorite out of the new topper campers. Hard side walls is a huge plus for snow sports and dirt bag camping at the ski resort parking lot. I could see that new power tailgate come in handy for those who do these campers and like a traditional hatch over barn doors. Tailgate is kinda hard to close from the inside, had a Wildernest on my 1st Gen for 15 years.

He’s not wrong, that’s just not how the engine or the turbocharger is mounted in the Tacoma.

That video is a year old. The 2024 Tacoma is the first Toyota to use the T24A in a longitudinal orientation. It’s not the same setup as what’s being shown in the video.

People keep listing the "starting" price of these top of the line examples, but how many are going to be available as base halo trucks? Not many would be my guess. Look at raptors, they just aren't readily available at starting msrp. Someone look up the starting price of broncos, trxs and raptors vs. Actual transaction cost, I bet it's not close.

Ranger raptor may start at 55k, good luck snagging one of the 4 made that way.

Toyota will come in over the top of the zr2 easily IMO, raptor name carries a ton of weight, but I'd still bet the Toyota badge matters just as much on the pro and will be priced as such.

I'm not even factoring in adm either.
