Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
What a rush. Packing for a tomorrow offroad fishing trip. I do a front end inspection, and my right front sway bar link is flopping about like a drunk sailer. A week ago it was mildly loose.

So i call the Toyota dealer here, no stock on OEM. They can get me a PEC Severe Duty, with grease fittings. $50 so I take it.

Jack it up, get the wheel off, and soak the rusted nuts/bolts liberally in wd40 and also 3in1 rust penetrator.

I go pick up the part mid day and get back to start the removal.

Nothing budging. So I use a 4ft long breaker bar to get them loose, being careful to not shear the bolts as they are pretty seized up.

Get some movement. The bottom bolt comes off easy.

The top one takes me 45 minutes of brutal 64th of an inch at a time turns on the nut. Soaked it many more times with the penetrants. I hate that socket set plus allen key setup they use on these, way too fidgety. The new part only requires a socket set and thats it.

Finally got it the lower one off, and the new one went on well.

Not fun when you are 65 years young, and dealing with 3 years of work disability for back and neck injuries.

Anywho, test drove it and a noticeable improvement. Way more solid on sharp corners.

Up early to head out fishing. This is the part installed. It is much heavier than the OEM part. Don’t care if its good or not, for $50 I just need it to last the summer offroad adventures. -)

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Firestone Air bags. I just installed a set a few weeks ago. I have 1,000 pounds in the back of the truck on my offroad trips. Working quite well so far.

The shop that did the works specializes in Tacomas. For simply carrying heavy loads, they recommend air bags and try to sway their customers away from suspension or leaf spring upgrades.

here is my truck today with 1,000 pounds in it. I have the air bags set at 25psi, they go up to 100psi. I have no other suspension upgrades other than bilstein 5100 and it is not lifted.
