Things feel wandery if you're lifted a lot and don't have enough caster, post your alignment sheet.

Hm they never gave me the sheet, but I’ll try to get one next time I get an alignment. This is part of the reason I was wanting to go with the OME 880s and ditch the Toytec coils on there now, instead of getting aftermarket UCAs and worrying about limit straps etc

Just get aftermarket UCAs and don't worry about limit straps then, you don't do anything that warrants worrying about that.

Yea they’re $$$ for a decent set though. It sounded like a washboard road is actually the most likely place to max out the shock and possibly crack the coil buckets rather than technical crawling, so I’d rather be safe and stick to the stock UCAs with 880s. The lower height should be easier on the front end as well and the clearance/droop should be good enough for me, especially if the OME leaf springs allow for a little more travel in the rear.

With the gussets on the shock tower you mean?

And yea it wasn’t clear to me if it could happen just from normal wheeling and washboard roads, or if it was from people jumping them and racing over whoops etc.

I must be getting old too. I dunno if I yeeted the baffles and packing out of my plain old turbo muffler or if I'm just more sensitive but it's starting to annoy me now that it's a daily again. I think I need to add a resonator to the Tacoma or dump the exhaust out the side/back.

The shock tower gussets don't do fuck all for coil bucket failure, they're a solution in search of a problem with stock width arms. What that article doesn't tell you is the vehicle with a failed coil bucket had been running tough trails every year for nearly a decade with 700lb springs and is one of the heaviest trucks in our group. We know now that rapid unloading with a heavy wheel and tire combo and/or heavy spring is bad for the bucket long term.... but did you catch that word. Long term, think about it, super heavy truck wheeled often in tough terrain... how does any of that apply to yours?

Fair enough, the only added weight I have are the Shrockworks sliders and the FJC wheels with the KM3s. I’m not worried about them shattering next week or anything, but if I plan to keep this truck long terms and trail-ride once a month or so I’d still like to minimise the long term wear and tear.

Impractical but I do love it.

I’m gearing up to sell my 5 lug soon then the goal is a 4 door 4wd 1st Gen as my daily. Just need to paint my truck and get it in sellable condition.

No I haven’t had any CV issues even with the 3” lift. Most of the people breaking them lock the front with heavy 35s and do hardcore trails out in Moab and the like with constant traction. I do have a spare CV but I’m not worried about it. I was reading slander’s build thread and he only broke 1 CV on his IFS, and he pushed it harder than I probably ever will.
