Trying to get on a list

So today I called a dealer in the Phoenix area, (rhymes with purge). I spoke to them about getting on a list for the 2024 Tacoma. He told me that they are going to charge me a market adjustment between 10 to 20k on top of the MSRP just because it’s a premium desired vehicle. WTF? I’m ok spending 50k MSRP on a pro, but add 10 to 20k on top????
Anyone know of any dealers in AZ that aren’t going to add on a “market adjustment”?

 

I mean it shouldn’t be shocking, it’s be going on for the last 3-4 years

Went to get a price for a GMC Canyon AT4. Sales guy said theres a 5K market adjustment added to the MSRP. I told him thats nice and left. I'll find another dealer or wait. Same for the Tacoma.

@Rmnkys try calling Valentino Roybal with Avondale Toyota, (623) 261-5073. These folks are straightforward and have never done any markups on any models/trims. Let Valentino know that RJ sent you. I'm not sure however that they are taking any deposits yet. I asked Valentino myself to give me a call when they start taking deposits on the new gens. I am assuming they will start taking deposits once they start getting allocations.

 

tell him you are charging a customer adjustment of between -10 to -20k on top of their list price.

 

Pro is marketed as the halo model by Toyota like Ford does with the Bronco Raptor, so be prepared to pay Raptor-like dealer markups.

 

$50,000 will make a nice down payment on one, I don't think that will buy a 3G.

As long as there are those with more money than brains, who are willing to pay these obscene dealer markups, then what's to stop the dealers from doing it. Answer: Nothing!

The Phoenix area dealer I purchased my 2017 Limited and 2022 Pro from told me the exact same thing! $15k market adjustment on their 2024 Pro.

 

Why would anyone pay 15-20k over MSRP to get on a wait list and beta test a first year next gen Tacoma?

Unless of course you are a tuber.
