thats not fair, one of these days i hope to drive a SXS around the forest with my rifle and oxygen tank shooting from an Uncle mikes armrest mount

but you aint kidding,,,, Payson's proximity and easy drive from the valley makes this place a zoo on the w/e's, thats when i stay home and get projecting done.

Hold on, are you talkin' like Choctaw Bingo and Will Rodgers Turnpike big? I mean having spent 4 years in east TX, Bodacious BBQ is most certainly a thing. BBQ in gas stations is a serious business, as in don't mess with Texas big.

How many of you guys actually run a transmission skid plate?

Mine has gotten scraped and bent up, but more likely just cus it hangs so damn low. Really though I can fit my whole fist sideways between the transmission pan and the top of the skid and still have an inch leeway or so.

Feel like if I'm not actually rock crawling, the extra 4-5" of clearance is preferable to the armor. Thinking about it in terms of suspension travel, that's almost all my front IFS downtravel right there.

I'd have to be sitting on an obstacle, ON the engine skid, and have my wheels almost completely unloaded to full droop before whatever obstacle I'm sitting on would come to make contact with the transmission pan. And then I'd still have to bounce off the rear crossmember and exhaust crossover.

The weekend before I built my trans skid I dented the trans oil pan. But it was actually rock crawling

Its nice to have for when you need to just belly slide a rock or down a ledge. Done it a few times.

Cheap insurance and worth any perceived trade offs...you never know what you may encounter.

This was a couple years ago...none of us were expecting this off camber, 25' belly slide drop in, and backtracking was not an option. One of us still had carnage despite the armor, which likely would have been worse without it.

Well been a productive month and week for me at work. Completely kicking the shit out of every other branch in my company in sales. Got a deal in place with the race track up here to be their only fencing contractor and a big sponsor for them aswell. As of yesterday have all the powder coating stuff paid off and ordered. Will be up and running on the PC game in 13 weeks.
