Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread

Do you know what gauge that 6ft cable would be? Just out of curiosity..

 

I have a 5' in a box, if you call them they will discuss with you, not like you have to buy They seem to only offer this via phone call from what I gathered. They charge quite the pretty penny for it, but it does look nice. I need to get it installed.
I think they might go to 2 gauge for longer runs but it's at least 4 gauge from what I remember (which is pretty poor as it's been in said box on the shelf for a while now).

 

Cool, thanks, I have some 4 gauge cable, an extra slot on my blue sea terminal fuse block, and a 125A fuse which should work great for this. I don't plan on running much amperage through the unit (2x e lockers, 2x cameras, and 1 or 2 small lights) so hopefully adding a few feet to the original setup will not have much of an effect.

I actually have the exact same cable that Switch Pros uses so I may as well only replace the part that goes from the fuse to the battery and run 2x 125A fuses.

 

Help... I cant find any straight answers.

Installed my switch pros this week with the setup from Derek at SD Offroad MT. The setup was super smooth and painless, except for a washer. If you're on here somewhere, thanks for everything Derek.

My question to you guys is...

Is there a way to wire my compressor power through the fuse block?
Can I run the compressor through the fuse block studs if I keep the compressor fuses between the compressor and stud of the fuse block? There's a 100a circuit breaker between the battery and the fuse block.

What are you guys connecting your trigger wire to? I know it's a preference thing, but i can't think of any ideas of what I might use it for. All trigger ideas i can think of, all kind of fall between relaying switch pro connected items to work in junction.

Last bit, I have the green wire from my S8 light bar that used to be add-a-fuse into my tail fuse. Is there anywhere under the hood I can tap that wire that would have the same effect as the tail fuse?



PS The switch pro reed wire has been corrected to be wired properly.

 

My trigger wire is connected to my high beams so I can turn my ditch lights on and off with them

 

Curious what folks have done/preferred when wiring up say ditch lights, backlight for light bar and ditch lights, multiple rock lights etc.

Building a wiring harness and I was planning on running (2x) 16g wire from both ditch lights to a single yellow 10-12g ring terminal or both 16g wires to yellow 10-12g butt splice into a 10 or 12g single wire into the yellow 10-12g ring terminal to keep wiring clean. Or is it preferred to run individual wires and stack the ring terminals on the switch pro and ground bus bars.

I’ve connected my

$659 sp9100 switch pros SP-9100 8-switch panel power system with concealed mounting hardware

sp9100 to the blue sea fuse block etc and was wondering what’s the best method for cleaning this?
Obviously water isn’t the smartest way of going about cleaning, is this correct?

I’ve always used this stuff from maxima on dirtbike/street bike electronics. Wouldn’t hesitate to use it on my Switchpro set up. Can be found at Cycle Gear or most motorcycle shops.

Anyone have an idea of how to use another trigger mechanism in tandem with a switch pro 9100? I want to trigger a few low amp draw LED lights with the switch pro and the smart switch below. I don't want to damage the 9100 by hooking up an additional switching device. I want the Wi-Fi feature as my truck has a 4G mobile hotspot. Anyone use another method of switching in tandem with the 9100? Love to hear how you did it. Thanks so much!

I want to add some exterior light bars using that smart wifi relay to Google home or in my case I should say truck.

Maybe others can chime in as well - In my case if I ever clean under the hood I try to protect the electrical components / Tesa taped wire looms / alternator with a towel or plastic bag. Then clean those areas separately by hand. Primarily to avoid blasting those areas with water or heavy solvents.

 

Anyone have the ground wire on their Switchpro burn? #11 pin on 16 pin connector, black wire let ALL of its smoke out today at lunch as I was sitting in my truck with the A/C on. One minute I'm hanging out listening to the Sat radio when my Shortwave radio glitched and rebooted. I looked up and saw a little cloud of smoke drifting beside my truck. I shut it down, hopped out and couldn't see the source and barely smelt something rubber. Thinking maybe it was the milkshake and chili fries that made me a little delirious, I got back in the truck and started it normally. Then I noticed that everything controlled by my switchpros was illuminated/on, including my anytime camera and light bars, but the control panel was off. I opened the hood and found that the ground had melted. I unplugged the 16 pin harness and everything turned off and truck returned to normal operation.

I haven't added anything electrical to the truck in 3 or so years, so its got to be a short, but what would put that load on the ground wire right at the 16 pin connection. Something internal? All attached components use a common ground bus bar. Affected ground is wired separately and grounded elsewhere to the frame.

 

Has anyone tried using the 16-19 SDHQ Panel mount in a 20+ Tacoma?

The difference I am seeing is that the 16-19 doesn’t have a trac off button at the top like the 20+.

The goal is to fit the switch pros unit directly to the console In a 23’ using the mount for a 16-19.

 

You can relocate your auto headlights using an extension harness to the LSP (any open small spot, might have to file for OEM, MESO would be a straight push in but obviously some work to get the MESO LSP stuff done. Then stuff the nanny off switch in the auto headlight spot and go meso.

Alternatively, meso's 3d print can do 3 small below (assuming you are AT) which then wouldn't require an extension or any LSP stuffs.

Oh and I believe Guild Outfitters now has a modular driver cubby too. Could probably stuff one small up high and 3 low. Lots of options.

I see what you mean by filing to make fit and extensions. I am AT so ideally would like to get something that would fit without hassle.

 

For AT a new driver cubby which has a small instead of the tall is ideal. The tall spot looks strange to me and it’s only needed for MT.

This is the panel you want. It's made by Meso as a stocked item for Cali-Raised. It’s what I used in my 2021 with an AT and it fits perfectly. I did move some switches around though. Moved the auto high beams up by the Switch-Pros and moved the traction control down by my brake controller knob.
