4th Gen Tacoma (2024+)

I have property where I have to drive through a creek and up an embankment since I am too lazy to build a bridge so I regularly encounter this exact scenario where a locker makes a world of difference. I'm just trying to get to my cabin lol.

I do agree 99% of the time it is unnecessary, but that 1%... I have had to resort to using traction boards and the locker though so, eh. Locker usually saves me some work of unpacking my traction boards basically.

 

I am sure the top trims are going to be quite expensive because people want nice trucks, but the value options remain as well.

The SR might be offered as one of the cheapest midsizes even if the TRD Pro ends up being the most expensive

The locker in my 1st Gen comes in handy on ice, though really impressed with the traction control on the Thurd, was going to toss in an ARB, don’t feel the need. Went from running studs and a locker, to Blizzaks and traction control. Actually didn’t even put my snows on last winter, left my Yoko G015 on. Did fine. Older I get discovering the less I “need”.

 

Have they published the size of the fuel tank yet?

 

And I’d say likely Rivian will eventually release an RT2 and RT3 that will cost a lot less than the whopping 835 HP RT1. They’re likely mimicking Teslas business plan of raising revenue off a flagship then moving to the everyday man versions.

For me a 45k Rivian would win my dollars vs a 45k TRD OR.

 

Bit worried about Rivian staying in business tho

 

Or Elon attempting to buy Rivian.

 

I'd bet on Amazon (Bezos) buying Rivian before Elon buying it.

 

Admit I’m all roses for Rivian, but I be shocked if they don’t do well and sustain. Orders consistently exceed production and they are building a $5B plant in Georgia. They should be making 400k trucks/year by 2026

Man I’d love to stick it to Toyota dealerships by ordering a Rivian in my exact config in 5 minutes online. But not at 75k.

 

Thing with Rivian is, for my needs, it'd be R1S for sure. Really, anything shorter wheelbase-wise. But, yeah, 'spensive so I'm likely priced out just on principle, just like I am on a Pro Tacoma/Tundra. They are just vehicles after all, my fleet of 3 cost me significantly less than a single pro would and I like redundancy.

Are we certain we'll never see a full EV Tacoma? Sounds like @CygnusX191 is clear on that but I'm not sure if @Carmaker1 has ruled it out.

 

If Rivian can't get vehicles to Chinese customers they will never make it as a business. That goes for all EV brands, that also goes for all vehicle manufacturers. Don't sell in China, you won't be in business for long. Chinese autou market is too strong to ignore. I'm pretty sure every legacy manufacturer sells in China, it's also what keeps Tesla going.

 

I don’t think any non-Chinese EV maker is going to sell many cars there in 10-15 years.

 

That's a good possibility which isn't good for the EV industry there are other markets, but are they interested in electric trucks? Outside of commercial light trucks, trucks aren't that popular in other parts of the world like Europe, Hilux and Ranger dominate those markets. I don't think electric would work well for their use.

 

It will be about 70k in canada I bet but if that was American then we would be looking at 90k up here ...no way that happens

 

$10 a gallon in fuel I’d imagine electric would go down quite well.

 

Electric cars sell at a much higher rate in Europe than in North America.

 

Typically USA is behind when it comes to efficiency and being green.
