I’m not someone who buys a lot of new cars, so I’m hoping my 3rd gen is the truck for awhile, I’m trying to set it up as a keeper.

4th gen has some really appealing features and I’m stoked to see Toyota directly support off-roading with the trail hunter, but the access cab door and size of the 3rd gen work perfect for me, and I bought with the intention of buying before the big changes to the 4th gen.

Same, tend to keep my vehicles for a long time, 20 years for the last Tacoma, though I am not getting younger was considering keeping my 3G for 5 years or 100K miles, (4 years and 70K to go…) then upgrade before it starts to nickel and dime me and still had some resale value left in it, now not so sure since they killed off my favorite cab configuration. Made excuses for years not getting exactly what I want from Toyota, they have may of made my next truck purchase decision for me.

The Tacoma has a Raptor style rear bumper that's got to be good for something.

Wonder why they aren’t offering that other trims (well I do, because “Toyota”) Could see that come in real handy for those of us that live in snow country.

Nissan had that V8 Frontier at SEMA, that truck had me ready to buy a Frontier.

That green, with the bronze wheels some NISMO 6112s, Pro4X lower bumper, with the midnight grille, and bumper trim. That would be a good looking truck.

I think I’ll throw a pair of those pro seats in the access cab though

The new Frontier wasn’t out yet when I bought the Taco, while I do like the the refresh. Buddy of mine is a senior tech at a major automotive repair shop, said stay away from Nissans, good for about 100K and that is it. He used to work at Ford too, said he has seen the ecoboost F150s go 200-300K without much problem. Plan on getting a new truck in 3.5 years, most likely be a Ford. Going to need a 3/4-1 Ton anyways, since Toyota doesn’t make one that will be an easy decision.

Ford or GM, new Chevy is looking good.

He obviously has a bunch of hate built up for 3rd gens and can't get it out of his system. It's just post after post.
Must have been something traumatic to cause this much butt-hurt. I sort of feel sorry for him.

I'll go back to the 3G forum and "cope" with my truck that does everything I ask of it, and still came with a reasonable price tag. I even bought during pandemic pricing.

I look forward to the 4G coping forums on purchase prices. It's a cool looking truck, so I'm sure buyers will be fully convinced that it's worth whatever price they pay.

Looking forward to the build site going live to see how much a 4G would cost with similar options to my 3G.

Yes even after he states he's owned multiple 3rd gens.

The guy complains about toyota fanbois and 3rd gen reliability yet keeps buying the same truck but hasn't kept a 3rd gen for longer than 2 or 3 years.

    He has zero credibility.

He’s probably pretty lonely at the end of the day. Sending positive thoughts your way, @tonestar . Hang in there, sugar bear. We won’t let anything happen to you.

Unless you plan on doing it yourself, the cost of replacing a battery pack in a Prius in the SF Bay area is somewhere between $1600-$2500. And that’s using the refurbished batteries.

That’s one hell of a brake job.

Even if you’re correct for your area, you’ll save that much in gas alone by the time you have to replace that battery anyway. It’s a wash at absolute worst.
