I have a 2002 Tacoma. I’m looking for a good set of coilovers
that have at least 2.5 inches of lift and doesn’t ride like sh*t. Obviously I would want kings, icon, or fox but those are more expensive than I want. I just want to know what people have on their trucks and what your recommendations are. Thanks!

    4 run, 2 don't
You've listed half of the options available for 1st Gen Tacomas.

You can figure out the rest easily, as these trucks are old, and no other manufacturers are coming out to support these vehicles.

Just search, and you'll see it's either Bilstein or OME.

Why do you want 2.5" of lift and what do you consider a sh*ty ride? I suggest you think about with just a replacement shock how does one achieve any lift?

I felt that the OME suspension I put on my 2003 was really good value for about $1200 with leaf springs I got about a 2.5” lift and the ride was very good. Also, there’s no expensive rebuilds like the more expensive oil over options from the Fox, icon, and others

I’m about to do 5100’s all around with ome 883 in the front and Dakars in the back. Gonna cost a total of like 1200-1300 bucks so not horrible at all.

I’ve been leaning toward the 5110’s or the 6112’s.

What’s the difference? Between the 5110 and 6112 and also between the 5100

I would recommend what I previously said and then in the future change to some higher end bypass style shocks like ads or king. The 5100’s are for lighter trucks (our trucks) and the heftier 6112’s might be a little overkill unless you plan on carrying some heavy loads constantly in which I would understand.

like a pervious person suggested, ome and bilstein are good choices. Why not combine both and use bilstein shocks for the absorbance and OME springs for the lift.

OME 881's, Dakaars, Leer Topper, and a wish list.
IMG_5560.jpg I’ve had OME 881’s for about 12 years with Dakar Leafs, Nitro Sport struts. Very dependable set up and 100% does the job. You’ll be all in at about $1300. They have over 150k on the set up. Needs replaced but still going. I do have a 10mm top spacer b/c I run a bumper /winch.
