Times like these are when I wish I had a long bed...

Except a double cab long bed won't fit in my garage. An access cab doesn't work for me, so I guess I gotta make due...

It's 88 and I've been outside most of the day so the tireds are setting in, and a dehydration headache is along for the ride, so I'm calling this enough progress for one day.

    20230527_174919.jpg

The wood that was already painted got another coat. The new stuff wasn't accessible at the time because I had it laid down it'll get hit tomorrow when I paint the inside that won't be visible once I'm finished.

    20230527_175027.jpg

The last 2 boards were left out to see how I put it together.

I should be able to wrap the planter up tomorrow and start on the gate. I've never built a gate before so this could get interesting!

I told my wife to come out and take a look at the progress. She pulled on it and said "when you build something you overbuild it, don't you?" :D

This thing is going to be the hinge side of my gate. It needs to be solid.

I hope you mean to pilfer building materials from parked trucks... (not that I support such activity)

If 4 screws are good then 9 must be better right?
I have a long history of overbuilding things.

Pocket screws are a hell of a thing but 2 screws in each end of the 5/4 boards it what really did it.

Fritter is pissed that I've been out here all day and she hasn't. Even stuck her tongue out at me.

not really that impressive of a store now that harbor freight is everywhere.

it's literally a name brand harbor freight, with the off-brand stuff filling extra shelf space. but everything they sell is usually available at auto parts stores, or standard hardware stores.

i've gotten a few obscure things there, but overall, their prices are higher than anywhere else, so don't waste too much time there
