That's some bad luck OP the bright side is it can only get better.

I live here too. Almost makes me want to just park the truck in a garage and walk, but pedestrians get run down left and right too.
Motorcycles don't have a chance here, looked forward to buying a nice ride when I moved here, after the first week that ship sailed right out of my mind.

I think in 6 years of living here I've seen 6 patrol cars. We need about 1000 more out there...

DPS is really understaffed. I am nearly rear ended at least once a day on the freeway by people who want to re-enact fast and furious movies.

That hit and run would really piss me off. Thankfully I've not hit anything with this truck.

I got a coyote in my first car following someone on the interstate; wrecked my air conditioning. Also an opossum and raccoon in the mustang. Coon thought it would run out of the ditch and change direction under the car after I straddled it. Rear tire drilled it so unfortunately it didn't make it. No vehicle damage then except pulling some fur off exhaust and rear lca.

    Does it still run?

If yes, you aren't going to lose much resale. Still a Toyota that's known for running into 300k miles.

Old rotted out examples with dents in the fender currently run about $10-20k higher in resale than same-age Ford rangers without the dents or the rot.

But don't ever buy a vehicle for resale. Assume the purchase price is gone entirely one you sign the paperwork.
