After full claybar last week, I managed to squeeze in a partial wax job this morning as I'm racing pollen and the sun. Snuck the nose and back end in the garage (whole truck won't fit) to hit the hood, front end, tailgate and rear bumper, and then hit the driver's side before I lost out to the sun. I usually alternate my spring/early summer wax between Mother's Synthetic and Carnuba. I've found the Synthetic a little harder to remove and not quite as glossy, but it lasts much longer. The Carnuba gives that nice shine. So my mild OCD got the best of me and I tried an experiment. 2 coats. 1st coat with Synthetic for the durability and second coat with Carnuna for the appearance. Time will tell.

Hoping to hit roof and passenger side later today when the lower sun angle allows.

I'll hit all the black trim with 303 after wax.

Oh and I applied Rain-X to the windshield

20230527_105832.jpgRoutine maintenance, boring I know, chaged the oil and filter, engine and cabin air filters. Next up is swap out the diff, AT fluid and replace the serpentine belt. Need to add some coolant, do I add to.the bottle or wait till the engine cools and add through the radiator?

Picked up my buddy’s old pit (no longer roadworthy) and hauled it to smoke some briskets , ribs, yardbird and links for a staff appreciation gig at work. Of course had to give it a coat if canola oil before firing it up.

Bottle, the radiator should stay full at any temp except boil over. It’ll cycle in with the next cool down. But you should check it when cold to be sure.

Started the long arduous process of rust control. Truck runs too good to let it die via the Central New York salt, and I can’t afford a car payment so $500 in paint and rust products is a better option. This weekends project is new to me bumper. Picked up this used but good contain bumper hitch combo with minimal rust and after some corroseal and black spray paint I’ll be looking better than before and ready to tackle the rest of the underside.

    Looking good, Mark!

Most people like the durability of synthetic wax but like the looks of carnauba. Best of both worlds.

Installed my tent for the season. Thinking it might just stay installed 12 months out of the year going forward. Scrubbed the vinyl cover with Simple Green and put on some 303 protectant. Started my electrical rework by removing the fuse panel and circuit breaker panel I installed a few years back. Still need to redo some wiring and hoping to get my new Switch-Pros setup installed tomorrow or Monday. After an early dinner I took it for a nice hour long drive through the country with the windows down and the music cranked. After I post this I'm gonna give it a quick wash.

Removed my old TSB replacement head lights that were smoked and replaced them with OEM non smoked headlight. Also restored the OEM fog lights.

If you have to add coolant to the radiator while there’s some in the bottle it might indicate a problem so it’s one of those be damn sure of it things since aluminum blocks and heads all too often don’t survive an overheat the way old steel engines would.

Been a while since I've done anything. Added cheapy ebay fogs. Got them aligned so I hope no one gets blinded. Will swap them with better lights down the road. Nice little mod for about an hour of work.

I crawled underneath her today while the oil was draining. I didn't see any leaks at the radiator or the hoses. Oil looked clean also. It's not terrible low in the reservoir but alittle lower than norm. She's 14 years old so a new radiator with all the bells and whistles isn't probably too far in the future. I change the coolant, drain and fill, every four years/50k

Anyone have an idea of what brand these are? The truck came with icon leafs and coilovers when I got it a few years ago but they have no markings... tia
