I had the same thought when I was building the vertical deck.*



I liked how it looked but didn't want it to weather so it was painted.

* The Home Depot guy didn't know how to spell pergola so he just put "deck" on the order.

 

The youngest left to travel out west for a week, so we are temporarily childless. Time to break out the good food.

 

I ended up doing some #woodworking after all. I crushed it today, I got almost all of the chain link out, took down some huge limbs that I had been waiting for the old fence to be down before I took them and mowed the yard. I feel good about it.
I was helped along the way by the timeless Merle Haggard playlist.
I'm gonna need a bodycast when I wake up tomorrow.

Does it double as a snow fence for your 7 months of winter?

 

New radiator for the old Subaru today, came from NAPA with their name on the box, the paperwork said Spectra Premium, I have used them before and had good luck - 2 days delivery.



It was just about identical to the original and very nicely packed.



Naturally, I managed to dump about a gallon of antifreeze ($30/gallon) on the floor...



The garage is the usual post job disaster area.

 

If you mean does it keep snow IN, yes, it does that exceptionally well.

Was it a package or did you design it yourself?
Was the wood pre-bent?

I always notice how flat it looks out there, here there are always hills in the background.

 

I don't want to like that but I have to because the visual is pretty good.

 

The neighbor at the garage was having a cookout for about 50 people - he gave me some BBQ chicken as I was leaving.

The dude makes some seriously good poultry.

Designed and constructed by me and here and there the two kids. My wife had design input.

I made some changes on the fly but my layout in AutoCAD stayed more or less the same. No speakers or subwoofer, though.

Everything is as straight as Mother Nature made it, the panoramic picture distorts it to looked curved.

We're at the bottom of an ancient lake so we're pretty much dead flat. Go about 45 minutes east or west and the hills start.

 

As Jim Nabors once said,
