Toyota sells the 4Runner in the following markets: Bahamas, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, the United States and Venezuela

I'm sure they're selling them for more per vehicle in most of those markets, but I'd bet the freight is also more as they can't be shipped with a bunch of other vehicles either, etc.

The 4Runner is a primarily designed for the North American market. They care about the money to be made here. If they stop selling the 4Runner here, it's dead everywhere.

It's definitely not as popular as other Toyota models, but it moves pretty well for what it is.

Sequoia looks like it is bombing. Wonder if that awful cargo storage had anything to do with it?

    Tahoe is 27,257 for Q1 of 2023.

This is what I afraid of. There is just a couple things I want but to get all of them it probably means more and more packages.

I would like an sr5 DCLB with the 14 in screen, I force max, heated/cooled seats, powered tailgate.

But I already know you can't get the sr5 with the hybrid. The seats I could do aftermarket I guess. I just don't need all the things the off road offers. Don't need the MTS or the locker and would rather upgrade the suspension with aftermarket stuff.

Yikes! For a Sequoia!? Some of Toyota’s engineering and marketing decisions are baffling at times. The Sequoia is basically a Land Cruiser 300, the LC has a legendary name plate, yet they drop that and keep the Sequoia. For the price just step up to a Lexus LX600. More prestige and much more sensible cargo area. Toyota could have fixed the cargo on the Sequoia, by moving the spare to a swing out, and dropping the battery down in the frame rails. Target market probably doesn’t like swing out spares

    LX600

My thoughts are it's overpriced. Compared to the Tundra, it doesn't offer much more. Yet there's a significant price difference between the two.

In their corporate sales figures, Toyota refers to the RAV4 (~400K sales in 2022) and Highlander (~223K) as SUVs too, so technically, the 4Runner comes in third in the SUV group with just over 121K sold in 2022, after selling 145K in 2021. (By way of comparison, in 2022 they sold 104K Tundras and 237K Tacos.)
That's still a LOT of vehicles and so I can't see them giving up that market.

Tahoe can come with the 3.0L Duramax as well and get 30mpg. They’re selling them like crazy.

It's expensive and GM dominates the segment followed by Ford. Those two are considered better vehicles by fullsize customers.
I think it comes doen to Toyota builds the Sequioa in San Antonio, and the LC version provides more luxury over at Lexus.

Lexus seems to want to move more upscale over their Toyota based Lexus vehicles.

Which puts 4Runner if based of the Global LC Prado platform in a gray area. I think 4R will be Tacoma based built in Mexico. LC if branded as a Toyota and based of the Prado built in Japan. That new GX with the belt line taillight design. Looks like it could accommodate some verical tail light as well.

Yeah they’re putting it in everything as an option. It’s not as much HP as the 6.2, but it’s for a little more torque and way better economy. Diesel has come way down too. It’s $3.58 here.

Toyota, come on :) do it.

Not much of a SUV person, haven’t paid too much attention to the Tahoe. That Z71 is nice!

Have been looking at Silverados too when I am done with my Tacoma in few years. The 4G looks like they fixed most of the problems, but it is a little too much/little, too late on my vehicle buying timeline.

I got my AT4 in damn near BBP like my old third gen and it’s awesome. I’m sure I’ll eventually get a DEF system problem, but the diesel has 100k warranties on the power train. Zero worries.

Like I said, gives me time to see how the new Tacoma shapes up. I really did love how my third gen was comfort and driving, just couldn’t do the terrible motor and economy portion of it. Her dad has a Ram 2500 diesel, so I never have to worry about access to an HD truck.

I am on the trade in at 100K plan, so no problem there.

Love my Tacoma, but in 5 years the next chapter in life begins, 1/2 Ton would probably work…3/4-1 Ton is more likely. 4G is going to be nuts the first couple years, then wait for the bugs to be worked out, by then I am ready to upgrade. 4G Tacoma won’t even be on the list.

That is a good looking GMC, nice color too!

It’s a pain to turn in tight spaces compared to my old Tacoma, and even more amplified because my trade-in was the 2D Rubicon that turned almost as tight as a zero turn.

I hope the 4G takes off. I may have a future working at the local plant that churns out the 2.4 for this cycle.

They’ll sell every last one of them, don’t think you have to worry.

Used to drive a Chevy C70 and a Mack Tri-axle Dump for work. Full-sizes aren’t a huge deal.

Looking at extra cab long beds. Ford tops the list.

The 4Runner is no sales leader there are so many vehicles that sell many more units than 4Runner every year. The reason you see so many of the 5th gen is Toyota has been building them the exact same way for 14 years.

People like the 4R I like the 4R there are a lot of them out there, but they aren't the most popular by volume SUV on the road. Last gen CRV is way more popular than 5th gen 4R.

    Edit

Nothing to do with CRV it's not a midsize SUV.
    https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2023-us-midsize-suv-sales-figures/

4Runner is currently #9 as for 2023 midsize SUV sales go. Not the most popular in the group is it?
