Yes but that tundra V8 was a comparison to the 4.0 V6- no the 3.5 mini van motor.

I feel bad for anyone having to purchase a new tacoma these days. I think my trd 4x4 sport with tech package running boards the whole lot was 30,500 OTD in 2019.A new 4th gen similarly spec’d would be close to 45,000-50,000 and at that point I’d just get an F150.

4th gen might be better, but the price surely Isint. Haha

But then you have to choose between 6' bed or manual transmission.

Not really. A 5’ automatic is my preference.

Then you are certainly closer to Toyotas target demographic than I am.

The Sequoia conversion makes the Tundra look fantastic. Hopefully Toyota goes that direction on the refresh.

This, 30k or as close to it was an important mark for me personally. while i can afford much more if i had to lay down 50k my choice in vehicles to choose from might lead me away from the tacoma.

A 4 cylinder is just a 4, no matter what you jam down it's throat or electric motor needed to run it.
    No 4's for me. I'll take a 300K 3.5 V6 any day over it.
I'd go Tundra before I ever buy another Tacoma, especially a 4 cylinder electric motor and all the other turbo stuff needed to run it at 50K+.
    It's become out of control.

Fortunately the laws of physics says otherwise.

the laws of physics say a 4 cylinder is not a 4 cylinder?

A few of us 3rd gen Tacoma owners are: a) fine with our trucks; and b) of modest means. Should we move out of a V6 into an I4 to chase a few extra ft-lbs and better creature comforts? Maybe not.

No, the laws of physics says displacement and cylinder count are irrelevant when it comes to forced induction engines.

My 2021 so far is as good as it gets.
Like they say, a Tacoma in the hand is worth Two in the Bush.

If the 4th Gen turns out to be all that and a bag of chips well so be it.
My 2021 will be paid for and will suit me just fine until the end of my days.

So more displacement and more cylinders + forced induction doesn't equal more hp/ tq? So is it really irrelevant?
