I can't recall where but I heard in a video the 7" screen is standard on most models and optional 10" and 14" screens.

Do you know how long that would take? Longer then 2 years when we expect the 6th gen 4 runner to be out

Toyota does not currently make any North American Trucks in Japan, The two trucks for the North American market are the Tacoma and Tundra, one made in Mexico, one made in Texas.

The 2 current plants in Mexico have a 266,000 truck capacity currently when at full production which pretty much covers the Tacoma and not much else.

I believe the Lexus Land Cruiser clone is made in Japan. That's the only model imported.

I guess the screen in the 3rd gen blends into the dash rather well. The dash is rather chunky, and the screen is not much larger than the double din head unit used to use, which wasn't great looking to begin with.

Screens look out of place in vehicles, since contemporary vehicle design, and interior design isn't built around a screen being front and center on the dash.

To really build a vehicle around an interior display screen. The drivers area needs to be moved to the center of the vehicle, the display screen incorporated into the instrument cluster, in away that does not impede forward visibility.

Not really practical in form, nor function as the driver does not need to observe a screen to drive a vehicle. Automobiles are simple to operate and have evolved to the point of not needing to monitor various operating systems to function. That was done to make automobiles appeal to the masses, so everyone can drive them.

4Runner SUV is built in a Japanese truck plant. Might be two different truck plants.

Instead of changing my quote why don't you make your point...

The Tahara Plant in Japan makes the following

Lexus LS, GS, IS, IS F, GX as well as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado, Vanguard, RAV4, WISH,and 4Runner.

I guess this is a truck now...

Not a bad looking truck. But I can't see the 4R leaving Japan

I know it's not a pickup. I was just saying on the SUV side I believe it's the only imported SUV since SUV's were mentioned. But I see the 4 RUnner is imported, didn't know that.

Some Rav 4's still come from Japan. The Rav 4 is made in 5 different countries and some of them still come to the US from other countries. (some consider it an SUV, I do not)

Me neither, considering that the design team that develops is is also in Japan. It's not developed for the US market by the Toyota team in the US like the Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia. That is one of the reasons it's hard to find any leaks on info for the 4 runner as well.

Tundra is more or less the LC300, but with a truck body.

Why they kept the Sequoia around and not the Land Cruiser is a mystery. The LC has a legendary nameplate. Rarely hear people ranting and raving over a Sequoia.

GX, Prado, and Land Cruiser are trucks.

Toyota used to build select Toyota vehicles in Russia, now the state builds select Toyota vehicles in Russia. Toyota makes changes to their production procedures, including location of manufacturing plants.

I suppose, but they’re still doing global production of the FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus LX, and Lexus GX in Japan, which are on similar platforms. Unless they’re going to get a significant boost in demand for the 4Runner in North America I think it would make sense to keep building the 4Runner at Tahara with the other similar models.

But with the change of the Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma to the same platform as the LC/Prado, it really eases cross-production at other facilities, so who knows.

Yeah, really feel like the Sequoia should just be called the Land Cruiser, even if it’s the same truck as now and not the global 300.

Or call it the Land Cruiser Sequoia or something. Ahh… marketing.

The other three NA trucks are being grouped in with TNGA-F 4Runner.

There very well could be a NA market 4Runner.
