Adding lights to come on with DRL

Hi I was wondering if anyone has a how to on hooking up aftermarket lights to come on with their DRLs? I was looking at the SS3 amber fog lights from Diode Dynamics which have a optional amber back light that I want to come on only with my DRLs. I also saw someone on here had amber grill lights (not quite like "raptor lights". Would those also be able to be set to DRL only? Pic of my grill attached for reference.

 

Turn signals and DRL are combined on yours, so if you hook it up to DRL it’s going to blink with whatever turn signal corresponds to the side of the DRL circuit you hooked up to.

 

Add the missing terminal to connector 1F spot #30.

Run wire to engine bay, connect it to relay coil ground side.
They will turn off after headlights are selected.
If want them to continue being illuminated, then you need to run a wire to parking circuit and diodes to isolate circuits.

Oh ok. What do most do when hooking things up then?

 

My Elite Diode Dynamics just hook into the wire of the DRL -Side marker- light wire. Then the amber back light runs when they're on.

This video shows how to hook them up. Should be the same on the SS3 lights

wire to ignition (slightly more desirable but no way to turn off unless the ignition power is wired through a switch

or wire as caribe suggested which sounds complicated but isn’t that crazy.

Aren't side markers and DRL the same? I'm talking about the amber lights that turn on when I turn my light switch to forward .

 

Side markers are on the sides of the headlamp assemblies. They are amber lens and they come on only with parking lamps, low beam, or high beam. Side markers are not a turn signal.

DRL is your front turn signals, turned on constantly. Amber bulbs behind a clear lens. They dim down to parking lamps when you flip the headlight stalk to running lamps, or headlights. The computer disables the constant DRL per side when the turn signal for that respective side is turned on.

I’m not familiar with the headlight stalk on an SR5 with DRL. If one click turns on the tail lights, side markers, and dims the DRL, then you can get that signal multiple places. That would be the running lamp (or parking lamp) circuit.

 

In your version Taco, the turn signals illuminate fixed after engine on and you release the parking brake. When you select TURN, it flashes and the opposite headlight turn lamp stays lit.
When you turn the light switch one more position (TAIL/PARKING) the itty bitty light on the side of the headlights illuminate and the low filament in the DRL/TURN/HAZARDS lamp also turns ON.

 

I ran a new fog light wire because I wanted my fogs on all the time now I can turn them off with a switch in the panel if I wish. I have amber fog bulbs.
