Again, that can be both DRL/turn signal, or a parking lamp. That bulb doesn’t just do one function. It’s on full brightness constantly when headlights are not on, disabled and then blinked for turn signaling, and then the bright mode is turned off and low mode is turned on when parking lamps or headlights are selected.

I don’t see anything off track.

The off track was more aimed at that debate between side marker or drl. But I digress. I think the vid wenty shared shows how to hook into my truck.

Then you won’t be hooking it into DRL. Don’t want to be a dick, but it helps to know the terminology to be guided appropriately.

I thought that's what he was hooking into on the halogen part of the vid. I could be wrong but it looked like that was the bulb he was attaching the clamp to.

It is, but that bulb does multiple functions. DRL is one function, turn signal/hazard is another, and running/parking lamp is another. Depending on how you hook to that bulb you either have to turn it on with the headlight stalk or it will be on with DRL but will blink on turn signal.

It seems like you chose the route to turn it on with the headlight switch, which is the parking lamps. That turns on your side markers, front signal bulbs on low mode, your tail lamps, dims the radio, and turns on your dash lights.

The confusion lies in the fact that the bulb does multiple things. DRL and parking light, but both of those are different, they just happen in the same place.

    Another version:
Once low beam is selected via the light switch the added yellow wire is in parallel with the low beam circuit providing the required ground to continue to actuate the added relay coil. The DRL circuit is now turned off which would turn the backlight off, but now it has another source to provide ground.
Fuse to relay is always "hot" battery not ignition fused source.
