Thousands of tiny paint chips/scratches

Hi all. I’m new here so forgive me if I posted this incorrectly.

I just purchased a 99 2.4l 4x4 from my dad. It’s been in our family since 2002. After I picked it up from my dad, it was dirty, so I had it detailed. After the guy left, I noticed thousands of these tiny little scratches. Mostly on the doors and hood. Not on the camper top or bed.
I’ve used this detailer before and he does great work.

The truck was so dirty I honestly could’ve missed the scratches when I picked it up. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before. Thanks for all your help.

(sorry for the reflection in the pic. Was the best way for the amount and detail of the marks to be seen. )

That's strange, I have some of those but it's lower down on the body where the tires kick up rocks. Doesn't look normal to be that high up on the door. Is it all over the vehicle?

    4 run, 2 don't
You could've just asked the guy himself since 1. You know him and 2. He does this sort of thing

You say you paid for a detail, in my book that tells me at the very least a clay bar is used; paint correction would be a bit extra naturally but maybe he can offer that as well

Anyway, better to just ask him (and get a quicker answer) than internet strangers and a single super close-up pic

Thanks for the help @Kwikvette …Couldn’t have done this without your insight.

I asked the forum because I thought someone else with a gen 1 with black paint had seen a similar issue. Hello….

@YotaBro - yeah. These are all over the hood and down the panels, doors, and stop as you get to the bed. Nearly nothing on the bed.

That truck should have a 2.7, not a 2.4 (easy mistake, they look the same).
As for the paint chips, you could ask your Dad how long they have been there for.

    2.7*** correct.

Dad says it’s “just old paint” haha. He may be right. Detailer said he didn’t notice. Which is fair. He did the job in our garage where there’s no light. So he could’ve missed them.

The reason I asked here is, I wasn’t sure if there was an issue with the black paint from 1999. Maybe it was something that someone had seen before.

My 2000 has no such chips, haven’t heard of any others. It’s a weird spot for it to fail though, almost looks like some sort of wind debris related damage.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
My black truck has chips just like that only I never looked to close.

Because it is minor to me.

The light colored primer makes it easy to see.
