That's a Pre-Runner with the "big" (12.3") Gauge cluster with the 8" Infotainment system. Kinda hoping that's what is available on the Off-Road.

I thought it was just the wheelbase that got longer not the overall length.

I know what you mean though I have a DCLB and I love it… apart from when house buying.

Toyota is building a yuge battery plant to help support all of this just down the road from me. Kinda wish it was a production plant for anything other than batteries, really hope they lock down the environmental impact

As of 2023, the following vehicles are produced at Toyota's Tahara plant:

    Toyota 4Runner
    Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
    Lexus IS
    Lexus NX
    Lexus GX
    Lexus RC/RC F
    Lexus LS

There's a possibility some other non-North American models are also produced there, but I wasn't able to confirm that.

Replacing the Lexus RX-L, a longer wheelbase SUV sharing chassis similarities with the Grand Highlander.

Has it already been talked about that the new Tacoma is actually a battery fed hybrid and the four cylinder motor is completely irrelevant because it is no longer connected to the tires but only to a generator which is why they’re putting up such great torque and horsepower numbers? The numbers are coming from
THE BATTERIES AND NOT THE ENGINE!

I’m yelling because it’s bullshit. So you’re telling me everyone’s OK with an electric Tacoma?
And I’m guessing there are still many many many that are completely unaware of this situation.

The 48 HP electric motor augments the ICE and its traditional mechanical drivetrain.

All electric would be even better, peak torque available from 0 rpm would be great! Just need to figure out range and recharge times to a reasonable level.

Have you seen a Rivian drag race a Raptor and a Ram TRX? It smokes them! Not that I am into drag racing trucks, but it is impressive,

I would never buy and all electric truck for use like a Tacoma.... You ever had gas anxiety... x1000 when you factor in charge anxiety...no thank you.

At least, with the first generation hybrids, if your battery ran down, you could at least still drive from the gasoline engine. Now, if there’s a problem, you’re completely dead. and now it will cost at least twice as much to fix it and it will be nothing that you will be able or allowed to touch. A dealership only situation, putting them back in super control.

The engine is not just a generator. It powers the vehicle with assistance from an electric motor that's between the engine and the transmission.

Go do some research on this drivetrain before writing stuff on here. This is not how this works at all. The engine is the primary power for the vehicle. Its not running just on an electric motor....

Not to my understanding. The engine is no longer directly connected to the tires. It runs a generator that powers the electric motors that drive the wheels. I believe the exception is the turbo version.

The Tacoma system will work exactly like the Tundra system. This will clear up your confusion.
