    Hey all,

Little bit of a mystery on my 2011 v6

I went to pass a guy doing about 40 in a 50 yesterday and upon acceleration the truck stuttered a little and the check engine light started blinking. I got around the guy, but I pulled over and hooked up my code scanner pending p0300 misfire in two or more cylinders. I shut the truck off and started it again, no more check engine light. Made it the 40 minutes home without incident.

Any ideas? I'm thinking spark plugs?

    Excellent, thanks.

I'm certain it has been a lot more than 30K since the plugs were replaced. I had a coil fail this winter as well, so I may just go through the ignition system completely.

Update. All of the spark plugs looks like this:

Could that have caused a misfire?
About a .078 gap on most of them

Thanks. Valve cover seals are next. Found a little bit of oil on one of the plugs too.

So I was looking at the plugs I pulled out again and one of them was pretty oily on the electrode. IMG_20230603_120000744.jpg

Could oil have gotten this far down the plug from a bad tube gasket? Or would this be an indication that something is going on in the cylinder itself?

Truck is running much smoother with new plugs, but I guess that's kind of a given

Plug could have been closest to the intake that vents crank case gases into the combustion chamber.

Toyota V6's will always have one plug that has more oil on it than the others. Its just the way the crank case vents into the intake.

I believe it was the 6th cylinder in the firing order. So the one closest to the driver if that makes sense.

    Good to know, thanks!

Thats the one I figured it would be on your truck.

Make sure all your electrical connections are good too.
