Cleaned (for the 1st time) a 20+ year old PT deck today. It came out so nice that my client wants me to stain it. There's something therapeutic about this type of cleaning.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It's crazy how much dirt decks can trap.

Indeed. She was shocked/amazed at how much it cleaned up. She came home just as I was loading up. I like to use the Krudd Kutter house & fence. Apply it with a pump sprayer and let it do its thing for about 5 minutes.

Got our gable overhang outriggers framed , skylights back framed and curbs installed and roof sheeted

Roofers come Monday to peel & stick roof and we are officially closed in again

Next step is back down in the dungeon again for a bit more foundation remediation so the plumber can start his ground work

So, ever since moving in my shed has been a catch all. Finally decided to do something about it!

    The disaster it was...

    Some OSB and 2x4's later...

    20230527_155749.jpg

I do realize there's not a center support, but it's pretty sturdy. I still kept the heavier stuff to the ends.

Also moved some of the sorter and lighter pieces of wood up top.

    So anyone know septic?

TDLR is we had to dig up our line from the house to the tank. Easy enough and it works for some future landscaping as we want to move the cleanouts (and add a second) and redo the risers.

Everything went fine but we did notice that our tank has two "holes" in it on the side. The bottom one (with my awesome yellow circle photoshop just to keep it not as gross) fits the 4" line and has the correct slope. But there is this upper hole that we have no clue what its for or what to do with it. We didnt notice anything over it when digging it out.

So what should we do? Leaving it open seems like a not-so-smart idea.

This is a pretty typical septic tank layout.

The previous owners did apparently lol. (That would actually be one of the least silly things they did too)

That doesn't look right, not to mention there should be more "water" in there. Looks like the tank has failed. The pictured hole does not look perfectly round, like it's busted.

There is plenty of water in there. Thats not an issue. And solids for that matter. They are just below where the yellow circle is. Didnt think i needed/wanted to post a picture of all that stuff lol. but the tank is working as intended with the liquid making its way to the leech field and solids staying where they should be.

The hole isnt perfectly round. Its 6" wide by 7" tall. Its hard to know if it broke or was there originally. Digging wise there was no chunks of tank material (could have fall into the tank though). It is "smooth" though without jagged edges like you'd normally see if something broke (what is shown in the picture is still dirt)

But we have a Septic company coming tomorrow so will find out whats up with it. And to fix some of the other weird things (riser related) someone did.

It's probably the angle that's throwing me off...

And as far as blurring out the "stuff" I have my own tank and periodically open it to just check on things. Doesn't really gross me out anymore.

Lol looking at it it's definitely sloped up in the angle I took it at. Can actually see the top of the tank through the hole.

Doesn't gross me out either. But does for some people so figured I'd be nice :)

I have a small path on one side of my house that I'm using to run a wheelbarrow down. It's got about a 21deg incline and the rocks make it at little slippery to walk on especially with a loaded wheelbarrow.

What are some ways I could fix this?
