    Cabinet of shame story:

They extended the power cable (480V) for a sump pump.

The "splice" was red wire nuts goobered up with high temperature RTV gasket maker.

For "extra protection" they wrapped everything in a True Value Hardware plastic bag while the RTV was wet.

... And threw the completed splice job in one of the drain trenches ...

    :help:

    Goodmorning crew.
Sometimes Toe needs his regular job to get a break from at home work. The at home work been kicking my butt lately. The bill from plumber wasn't that bad..$204.00
Got mower deck bearings, took one apart to find that lower bearing is larger...look back at parts diagram and got to buy the entire spindle...or as @RustyGreen suggested pull one off and go match it. I decided just order entire assembly x3
All for a mower I was ready to pass off to someone with more time and ambition than myself. :anonymous:
Now onto replacing wood on deck surface, I think the wife thought she was going to do this job by herself and that it be easy..a board here a board there, doesn't have to be done all at onceo_O
I'm about 1/4 way through this deck fiasco. Had to replace some joist underneath.
Next up is replacement of her swimming pool liner.
So you all get a idea what Toe been up to.
Two round trips to Lincoln NE with daughter so she could get another mod to her truck done. Tint

Is there anything else to do within an hours drive of Mammoth Cave? Or anything worth stopping and seeing to the east of it?

It'll be fine doing it that way. Gas piped for decades at a utility. DON'T use tape, use a good pipe thread sealant/dope, I always know when a homeowners pipes or some new fitter does a job because they use tape. And yes, short nipples suck but sometimes you have no choice but to use them. If you do have a choice though, 2'' is less apt to egg and then fail to seal.

Its been 15 years solid since I've lived there, 20+ since I've visited the area so double verify everything...

Aside from the caves in Mammoth NP and the hiking, biking, kayaking associated with that
    1) Kentucky Down Under Adventure Park, this is where they have the beefalo, tons of cool birds etc.
    2) Guntown Mountain is pretty cool for a family
    3) Corvette Museum in Bowling Green
I've been to all of these as a child, dont remember how close exactly they are together.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
My fix weld the cap to the close nipple and be done.

That way every thing comes out in one piece.

access or clearance only allowed the use of the close nipple ?

I agree with Mr Green close nipples are a royal pain.

Without knowing just what the project was in reality a best guess .

Makes me wonder how many different companies added their 30% mark up having no idea just what the product really was .

    Just a part number.

That would literally cost, at a natural gas utility, about 50 cents. ALL short nipples are one and done, you NEVER reuse a short nipple after the initial tightening and then removal. Longer ones, I've reused them thousands of times rebuilding stands and tying into house piping.

That short nipple was for emergency diesel generator. For complete blackout/loss of power then diesel kicks in for safely related components...think core cooling...as in reactor core:eek:
Like many other systems, example a cooling fan belt driven, anywhere else belts would cost idk 35.00 a piece these are $600.00 certain # out of a batch are subject to high radiation and guaranteed to keep working.

Easy day today; make 10 gaskets for little 1" 150lb flange. Then I'll go back to throwing away a bunch of bar ends, short lengths of pipe etc. The bar racks in the shop were beginning to be a hazard.

Holy crap, that's a $2 part in the electrical world, even a 316 SS version is ~$9.

Yeah it's crazy how much some parts cost. And that little piece of pipe I have no idea what type of testing or requirements it has to meet to cost that much.
I have been told there are some parts metal in nature and fabricated that the material would have a pedigree meaning a trail of paper that would lead back to the mine where the ore come fromo_O
Back...way back before some notable industry accidents these power plants were designed to be run by a fraction of the amount of people and supposed to be cheap clean power.
Then here in the good old USA places were built by the low bidder, not hardly any of them the same, some even near one off design or how it was completed different.
If we had our stuff together we'd settle on one design and make them all near identical with all the same equipment and make them maintenance friendly. $$$savings in the long run.
I think it will be the future.

So now that I've jumped the... grease gun... the '19 Pro does have zerk fittings, doesn't it? I'm seeing the numbers range from zero to 5 fittings depending on model and 2 vs 4WD.
