I think it kinda depends, in mine it went as low as 2.2. kinda funny how that works.

 

Good to know. I do have the manual boost controller to possibly close it up a little more but really I'm okay with it being super conservative at the start. Maybe get some MPG back.

same haha, just awful. But I'm having a lot of fun. It doesn't have a hard time keeping the 35s and heavy old truck wound up to 85mph but it certainly doesn't mind drinking the fuel down.

 

Exactly, I find that is where I appreciate the power the most is on the freeway. Cruising at speed is much easier and then passing power or going up a grade the power is there when needed. I too have a manual controller on the way, planning to turn it up a pound or so.

 

My tune is just peaking at 4psi right now since I'm waiting on the final parts of my intercooler setup. But even so it is more powerful than I would have expected and compared to a supercharged truck running 6psi on smaller tires it feels like I have tons more HP on tap.

 

The speed limit on I-15 around me is 80mph with lots of hills so having a little more power on hand will be lovely. The altitude makes it feel pretty gutless and I'm only on 235/85-16's

 

Saw this on FBook, so has to be true. Don’t think these made it stateside as this was on a Hilux 3rz. Allows for adjustment of idle fueling. I didn’t see it on my made in Commiefornia 1999 model. Said to be coming out of the same wiring loom as MAF. Unless they have a different ECU but I assUme that during closed loop idle it would compensate. Although I had an injector isolator unseat and at idle I’d get a lean code. Clear it while moving it it’d never come back. Idle a minute or two and it’d pop back up.

 

There is an unused plug that branches off of the MAF wire loom that I've seen. I wonder if that's what that goes to....

 

US spec computers have no inputs or outputs marked for baro or MAP sensors. Technically there is a MAP sensor fed to the ECU but it's for sensing fuel tank pressure

 

Who's to say that idle fueling device in question is a map sensor. Could just be a simple potentiometer to adjust

 

Could be, the old trucks with VAF sensors had idle mixture screws since the column of air at idle isn't enough to move the VAF. Can't imagine why a MAP or MAF system would ever need manual adjustment though they're plenty sensitive to trim themselves. A lot of the Australian and third world country Toyotas came with computers incapable of closed loop fueling early on though, could be one of those.

 

I would imagine that adjuster could be a product of some region specific emissions regulations too

 

I think you'll be surprised how much the intercooler will effect it even at low psi.

I think that plug has something to do with keeping a clean signal from the MAF to ecu.

 

I put the URD charger on the original truck I was gonna build and drove it like 10 miles and was like wtf did I just spend 4k on! Not to mention, the sound, to me at least, was maybe the most annoying thing I have ever put on a vehicle. Idk why. Turbo is so much more soothing and straight makes power like, I dare you to turn me up.

Yeah I definitely notice a difference in power between a cold engine bay and a heat soaked one so I'd imagine it stays somewhere on the colder side with the water to air all plumbed up. Haltech tunes for the air temp change nicely at least. Finding a cooler that fits behind my grille is proving to be a nightmare. I thought I had a winner but it was 2" too wide... So thats just sitter here being clutter now.
