The Hybrid is rated for 6000 lbs, the non hybrid is rated for 6500 lbs, the 3rd gen is 6800 lbs. If you want to tow 7500lbs that would be outside of any of the trucks current tow ratings and would be on you if you felt comfortable towing that much.

If he bothered to read the tfl article I just posted he would have found that out immediately. I guess some people just like being purposefully ignorant?

No buddy, the standard turbocharged Iforce engine has no electric boost and makes 278 hp and 317 torque. I guess you don’t have any reading comprehension.

I think we should give up on him. You could tell this guy the sky is blue and he would still argue it isn’t.

and as I have stated before. It’s still a four-cylinder motor. And my question that started off several days ago, if the V6 and its displacement was barely enough to be used for towing offroading. And now they’re replacing it with a four-cylinder and less displacement and relying on the turbo, at what cost will that be to the longevity of the motor.
I don’t see these motors lasting because people are going to beat them to death

Let me ask you something, how much knowledge do you have about the leafspring suspension system in the third generation Tacoma throughout its lifetime????? this is the same situation with the new engine, they’re not going to tell you the inadequacies of the motor.
That would be bad business. but just like the suspension issue that magically disappeared in 2012 only because enough of us kicked their ass to finally force them to make changes, the same thing is going to happen with the motor. I’m just not starstruck by the fancy frosting (the numbers) and want to know what’s really going with this new magic motor and its combination?
Too many people on here are starstruck by the fancy frosting numbers I don’t care to know the real grit.
Maybe this new motor combination IS as great as they’re claiming it to be.
    Only time will tell.

No one will know the answer to that until the miles start to stack up on the truck, no different than the 3rd gen V6. Anecdotaly there are issues with the new Tundras engine but other than the first 3-4 months of turbo issues, the latest issues don't seem to be turbo related.

Correct, at what cost to the longevity of the motor because you have taken away the displacement volume.
They had to squeeze the £uck out of something to get the same numbers with less displacement

But you do say people are spouting info without backup and you're doing the same thing. No one knows until a real world test is performed when a production model is released. So all we have to go by is the numbers Toyota posted on their site. You know as much as everyone else. So once a test is done with depleting the electric motor battery and towing on engine and turbo alone even your speculation is moot just as you say ours is.

That was not the statement that prompted me to make that post, your statement was that the current V6 had more HP and Torque than the non hybrid or battery assisted as you call it truck, and I was merely showing you the error or your statement with actual facts and numbers.

As to the longevity of the motor, no one will know the answer to that question until the miles stack up on the truck. I figure about 5 years into the 4th Gen you will start to have a clearer picture of the new powertrain.

Formula 1 engines get near 1000 horsepower out of a 1.6 V6 turbo. The V10 did near the same 20 years ago at near 3.0 liters. It's called engineering advancement.
