Due to legal issues, they are going with Toyota stock parts all the way. Unless I find an off road shop that will do custom work

Didn't you mention in your previous post that they're the ones who caused this to begin with? They should fear legally what happens if they don't fix it for free, and immediately.

here's a part #, confirm fitment with your truck, then have the shop purchase it https://parts.earnhardttoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-pressure-metering-valve-4791035330
I can't find a hard line replacement, so you'll either need to pull one off another truck or the shop's gonna have to suck it up and learn how to bend and flare brake lines

Double flare tool , a tubing cutter and a cheap tubing bender the new Copper/ Nickle tubing is so very easy to work with . you can improvise using anything round of the correct size. Federal Hill is a great source for the metric flare nuts and the copper nickle tubing .

Bending brake lines is easy for me it is pretty much Common sense it. Just don`t kink the line.

@Kwikvette you would pick it up fast!

Your shop boys [and I mean boys] are just lazy and ignorant. ANYONE can bend brake lines with a cheap bender, if a shop can't do it, they are just a bunch of hacks. There is nothing ''unsafe'' about bending and flaring new brakes lines.

FWIW, the hardest thing to do is figure in the extra length when you do a bend and remembering to install the nut before you flare. [been there, done that before]

Update. Found a shop that will look at it on Tues morning. Other shops wouldn't touch it.

My damn mind was shattered when I woke up this morning and discovered a common Toyota pickup cannot get a replacement part. Some shops won't touch a 20 year old vehicle. Other shops won't let me bring in my own genuine Toyota part to use. This guy on Tues said he'll "figure out a way to fix it."

Last question; how do you guys with road salt back east that corrodes and eats brake parts, what the hell do you do to get a shop to work on them? No one in Oregon has damn lines or parts for a very common vehicle. It makes no damn sense. Like 2+2 = 5

Thanks as always for all the help and support

Les Schwab rebuilt the brakes, but the valve had nothing to do with them. They just pointed it out it was leaking, and not something they did.

There has to be more to that as these are common parts and they are available.

I can not speak for others I do all my own brake work.

The copper/nickle tubing stands up quite well to the winter chemicals.

If you don`t often work on Toyota vehicles let alone 20 year old vehicles most likely not going to have parts on the shelf.

Shops not allowing customer parts is quite common it can turn into a nightmare real fast.

Your supplied part is bad out of the box after taking 2 hours to install . You bought that part your getting the replacement or warranty . your also paying 2 hours of labor to remove the part and another 2 hours to install the part.

20 year old truck parts for the most never sit on the shelf at the retail level . it takes as long as needed to source the parts through the warehouse. At the shop level your buying through your normal vendors.

Why I have so many Toyota parts on hand.

Does your truck have the ABS brakes?

Then they have the computer controlled brake bleeding system for ABS brakes.

Then not bleeding the LSPV bleeder makes sense.

My guess they broke the lines trying to open the LSPV bleeder

I think it is more being a few days out for delivery then not available.

We all know sometimes walk ins and phone calls get poor service.

Not like when you know everyone .

    4 run, 2 don't
Based on the year I doubt he has ABS.

Technically, you could get away with bleeding the brakes on a Tacoma without ever bleeding the LSPV. Plenty of people do it but if you crack that rear line from the LSPV to the rear axle then most likely you'll need to bleed that as well after bleeding both rears.

I agree and know how to work around .

Yet a shop not bleeding the LSPV then allowing a vehicle with a leaking brake system to leave .:anonymous:

Thank Odin the Op had no problems:amen:
