Hey guys, getting a single loud pop from driver side when wheel is cranked and backing out. Took off skids and see oil/grease everywhere on left side. Boots are fine but cv at diff looks like this. Shouldn't that flange be seated in housing all the way? Or am i chasing the wrong thing? A little bit of play when I wiggle it but nothing dramatic. Thanks in advance!!!20230530_182756.jpg

That looks fine, they have to float a little bit. Look elsewhere.

There is a seal behind. The play is normal. Did you check the steering rack?

    All the things!
This oil/grease... does it stink? If so, that's diff oil. If it's think and doesn't stink, that's CV grease.

Grease will come from a tear or leak in the inner or outer boot. Oil, would be from a bad seal, where the CV enters the diff.

    Share some more photos...

Sometimes you can get a loud pop from the coil on the perch. Or other items binding against each other.

It stinks a little. I did change the diff oil a few months ago but didn't think i made a mess. All bolts seem to be in tight. Torqued to spec.
Totally thought it might be coil... 6112 with 2" lift... but never happened in 3 yrs before. Hard to check because it's only when i start to move.
No more pics right now, i cleaned it up and put skids on. Have to check again later. Thanks for the reply.

I saw this post... looks like replacing the bolt in lower control arm? I'll look at some more. Thanks!

The bolt that connects the bottom of the strut to the control arm. It may help, may not. Definitely helped me, and others had similar conditions to you.
