2016 Tacoma auto windows stop working after battery failure

Battery died yesterday, replaced but now both front windows don't auto roll.

Battery shorted went bad. Wonder if a relay is bad? Will keep looking.

Was working fine both windows until the battery went.

Any other ideas ?

 

Try holding the switch to roll them completely up and then completely down 2x.
Then try the auto function.

 

My Tacoma is too old. However, the VW needs to be told it has a new battery. Battery went dead, my fault. Recharged. Then got a lot of strange errors. I had to clear out the faults. Some went away after driving around a day. This included the one touch window operation.

This was common on most Toyota late models. To fix it, reinitialize the auto function by rolling the window all the way down and holding the switch for 2 seconds, then immediately roll the way up and hold the switch for 2 seconds again. That should restore the auto function.

 

I actually discovered this by accident in a Ford Explorer I was driving. Good to know it works in other brands too.

That was it!!

I can hear the relays click once I hold the button down or up for a few secs. Windows worked right away!!

I love explaining to my wife how this stuff works..she said " oh no dealer visit now?" I said not with the brain trust in this group..ha ha
