    100%

His truck is sharp, not to mention easy, and I bet all issues can be taken care of on a weekend (which includes beer runs, pizza ordered, and several breaks to bullshit).

This one isn’t too bad yea. It’s actually come a long way since I first got it tbf. Last summer I couldn’t even put it in gear when it was cold, and it sputtered like an old airplane when I tried to start it. It has no codes and runs strong now, there’s just little things like sloppy handling and an intermittent high/rough idle. It probably needs the throttle cable adjusted or a new TPS sensor, idk. But the important things like LBJs are taken care of AFAIK.

Yea I’d feel bad about having someone do $1500 worth of labor for $30 of pizza and beer. I’ve seen it happen tho.

I changed a transmission last weekend for a few dinners and beer. It's not a bad deal when it's friends.

You're working at the wrong shops. As a welders hand it was also my job to fetch beers. I wonder why we had so many send backs

If I had dropped out of highschool and bought a house in 2008 I could have retired on the equity by now :luvya:

A base Corolla is actually pretty comfortable and has plenty of creature comforts. I'm sure you can find a lease deal and never have to fret on unexpected expenses. Makes ownership more of a fixed cost than anything.

Yea it’s nice to have the fixed cost. Most of the advice I’ve seen has been “buy an old beater if you wanna build wealth.” It’s nice to think a 97 Corolla will just keep chugging forever, but it could still throw a rod at anytime and leave you dead in the water.

The best wealth building advice is to adopt rich uncles and collect rare fish :luvya:

TBH I fucking miss these days. Our local crew held mod days all the time and it was always a blast. Now life and kids have gotten in the way of that. We all do the work solo on our own time now because our schedules don't jive, or when we do we rather spend it around a fire together.

100%. I will prob regret getting rid of mine soon :anonymous: Bought a '17 Corolla SE in 2018 for $14k. Think it had 15k on it? Newest car I ever owned. Only done oil and tires on it since I owned it, haven't even done brakes yet. At 64k now I think?
