I know there’s 100 threads on subjects like this, but I figured I’d ask my own question and get advice from people with much more knowledge than me.
Any advice/help you give me is definitely appreciated.

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD. I’m wanting to upgrade to 285/70/17 KO2’s. Local shop said a 3/1 Readylift would be all that’s necessary to accommodate that. Does that seem accurate? I do some overlanding, but nothing too extreme. Did all of the Colorado trails around Ouray last year, and that’s about as extreme as I’ll go off-road.

Lift doesn't really create tire clearance where needed. The fitment of the wheels (offset/backspace) is much more important.

Redi lift is just a spacer lift IIRC. Some think it's just fine, others prefer an actual suspension upgrade.

If you traveled successfully last year on OE bits/tires, you could just upgrade the tire size slightly, the quality greatly, and be quite successful in your travels on your OE wheels.

    Also a 255 80 17 (full 33) on OE wheels fit with no lift/rub/cut.

Consider that a suspension lift doesn't gain ground clearance at the low point of the truck, the axle lines.

285s look awesome on our trucks, stock sport wheels don’t have enough offset, a 285 will rub on the upper control arm with sport wheels.
You need a 7.5 or 8 inch wheel with around 0 offset or -10.
You’ll need a good wheel alignment to run them on the street, but if you off-road then you’ll want a cmc and some minimal trimming. A cmc is like an hour at an off-road shop.

Thank you for your responses. The wheels I currently have are the blackTRD Pro wheels (not sure on offset or wheel width) and I have KO2 265/70/17’s on right now. The wheel and tire I’m wanting to go to is a Method bronze wheel with the 285’s.

The pros will work but methods are nice, like the 701

@CWill we can help with the wheel and tire package if you would like. Method is a solid choice for aftermarket wheel and will increase your width over what you have now. Is there a Discount Tire location near you?

You didn’t ask this, but E rated KO2s ride unbelievably rough. There’s not much flex in the sidewall at all. I had them for 2 days and hated them. Some here love them, but I had the complete opposite experience.

You probably end up a bit nose high with a 3/1 lift. Very few of these trucks have a full 2” of rake.
