IMG_1653.jpg IMG_1654.jpg IMG_1655.jpg IMG_1656.jpg I’m looking to buy another Tacoma and came across a 2020 that looks like a TRD Pro, but instead it says it’s a Sport (see photos). I put the VIN into KBB and it was listed as an SR5. It has the bells and whistles of a limited. Was this truck modified or am I just not familiar with this trim?

The sport and off-road are packages added to the SR5. When one has that much... Stuff... It's hard to tell

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

The VIN tells the truth, there are a bunch of on line decoders, try one:

    https://parts.olathetoyota.com/vin-decoder

The Sport and Off Road are considered packages for the SR5 model by Toyota so you will see both listed together.

It probably is a Premium package Sport with a Pro grill and door emblems.
Just make sure you don't pay Pro money for a modded Sport.

Definitely a Sport judging by the chin spoiler, tail lights, and fog lights.

Also, don't the sports come with the color matched fender flares where as the Pro is flat black? I could be way off, so that's a question, not a statement....

No your right, that truck has more sport features than pro features.

The pro looks like a trd offroad with a hood scoop and black wheels.

Does it have crawl control? Rear locker? Chrome head lights and tail lights say it is not a Pro. Chin spoiler says it is not an OR.

real 2021 pro. IMO they are all same trucks with diff lipstick. Buy it As long as they not trying to sell it a Pro price.

Pro and offroad are one family.
sport, limited, sr, and sr5 are another family.

Pro and offroad are functionally the same with the exception of fox shocks and OEM skid plate, pro is pretty much a higher trimmed version of the offroad. Both have big diffs, crawl control, locker, and a few other off road items.
sport, limited, sr and sr5 have the small diff(except manuals), no crawl control, no inclinometer, use vacuum brake booster systems (crawl control needs a electric brake booster)

Big diffs are manual trans. All autos have same smaller diff.

Maybe that explains why the manual transmission Sport has a combined fluid reservoir for the brake and clutch, while the Off Road has separate reservoirs. I defied logic by installing a separate clutch reservoir in my Sport. I just like to keep the systems separate. (I got the parts, like-new, at a cut rate from Bulgaria out of a salvaged Land Cruiser. Otherwise this conversion would have cost several hundred dollars.)
