I finally swapped the variator weights in that @spencermarkd gave me. I think I did it right and just alternated the 11g and 15g weights in the variator?

    upload_2023-5-31_18-0-46.jpg

I gave the variator nut a few zaps with the impact and put it back together and it seems to be running well. Definitely accelerates harder but haven't tried top speed yet.

It sucks when you just can't stand somebody's voice if they have good info. Funny enough, Chaseontwowheels doesn't really bother me, but I cannot get through a Big Rock Moto video. I feel terrible too, because I know he's very good and has lots of good info. I just can't stand the voice.

Interesting. Usually heavier weights will mean lower motor rpms (more centrifugal weight tries to close the variator quicker).

Yup, just alternate them. Gave me a huge boost off the line and I didn't lose any top speed that I could tell.

@nd4spdbh stock weight is 17g, so this gives it an effective 13g weight. Stock weights were too heavy and chuuuuugged.

Here was the reddit post I did forever ago on it: https://www.reddit.com/r/hondanavi/comments/t7qawz/i_did_a_little_bit_of_work_on_optimal_roller/

AHHHHHH OK. that makes sense then. your post made it seem like you re-used stock weights or something along the lines of heavier.... though i have had a couple of beers sooooo drunken math.

yeah 17 to 13g of weight is a big diff, let that lil motor rev.

I wish I could get a stock Navi to try against mine now. Once I get the exhaust on and tuned I think this thing will feel great. It's already a lot more rowdy with the intake + rejet.

Just gotta try stuff! I don't have any professional training but have done a lot of work to my Pickup and motorcycles just from getting started and learning along the way.

I was always scared to try removing a transmission to change a clutch till I just decided to go for it with my Pickup. I've done 4 clutches now and feel a lot more confident with tackling bigger jobs.

I still don't want to do another head gasket, though. Spent too long scraping old gasket off the block.

I'm afraid I'd end up selling the Navi at that point. :anonymous:

I thought he sold his to a friend!

I'm about $1800 into my Navi with all the modifications. I think I could get that much for it (though I can't even get that much for my dirt bike so maybe not).

My wife is PIIIISSED it hasn't sold yet. Talked with the gal that's supposed to buy it last week or the week before and she says she needs to sell her v-star first but is going to list it soon but was charging in the battery and yadda yadda yadda and is definitely still interested, so who knows. Half tempted to get a plate and re-register it again so I can at least use it for beer runs until she does.

Being that the Navi isnt step through like a traditional scooter, not a chance both would be in my garage unless the GF bought the navi on her own.

If she did buy a navi..... ok yeah id ride it for sure.

gdamnit called me on my bluff

Think about all the grom parts you could buy with the Navi money!

Too bad we don't live closer to each other, I'd love a friend to goof around on Navis with.

Although living next to you I'd probably also have a Grom already too...

In my mind, Grom is for wheelie practice and taking on the twisty roads, while Navi is for groceries and commuting. The Navi has that useful storage box and there's no way I'd put a milk crate or storage rack on a Grom.

    You say that...

    Then you get a grom...

Then you put a full size milk crate on it.... and realize how amazing it is.

I put the milk crate on my grom, jezus, damn near 7yrs ago with the thought of taking it off after the lake trip i set it up for.... hasnt been off since.

I guess you could do the same with a navi.... but shifting gears is so much more motorcycle like. and a clutch.... which means easy wheelies... all around grocery getter and hoon machine.

I wish I had the itch to buy a Grom before I dumped $600+ into the Navi. :annoyed:
