Manifold Back

I bought a used 2016 Taco as it turns out I cannot pass emissions in Mass. Some poor welding and hack job lead me to needing everything manifold back, (all 4 cats).

Can anyone recommend a good but affordable set up? I'm not looking for anything crazy in sound, and really feel like I got a bit screwed :/ I appreciate the help, cheers

 

Did you buy it from a dealer? If so it needed to be able to pass emissions before they sold it to you.

 

wow, this is rough! It's going to cost you a large amount, granted you can probably now find aftermarket cats.

I would check your state's laws on selling used, private or dealer, depending on where you bought it. I think in my state (or it used to be anyways), you had/have to specifically note to the buyer something like "this vehicle is sold for parts or rebuild, and will not pass the state's safety and/or emissions standards" It's been a couple of decades, but I have two different friends experience this. One had to threaten to sue the dealer, as the vehicle would not pass, needed major repairs, and the dealer didn't want it back.
Another buddy had his ad and the paperwork noted with the above statement, and when the buyer wanted him to take the car back, he was covered.

I'm not saying go Full-Legal as a first step, but you might research and educate yourself, and see if the seller wants to help or buy back. Or maybe, you bought this, knowing this thing was a project-vehicle?

 

you might be able to get around it with just the first sets of cats vs the downstream set. (do you have check engine lights going off?)

 

I'm working through it with the dealer as I was able to fix it when I bought it and now its been a few months.

Yeah, I'm not sure enough about the exhaust systems and was hoping there was a system someone sold that wasn't crazy :\ that way I had an option for DIY

 

Either way, I'd like to upgrade my exhaust, any one know anything about the AWE 0FG Dual Exhaust System?

 

Register it in a state that values freedom over rackateering and straight pipe it.

FWIW, Massachusetts does have serious consumer protection laws, especially with vehicles and emissions parts (same as California). Chances are very good that the selling dealer is on the hook for this.

 

Problem is I bought it in Oct/Nov, then had to travel so I passed the 30/60day rules in CT where I bought it my own fault I guess.

All 4 cats on rock auto will run about $1500 and any "cat-back" system will work. Probably looking about about $2k in parts plus any O2 sensors that are problematic.
