Are ARB pumps really that good? Why?

All I hear about ARB pumps is that they are real panty droppers. I get that they are made to last but the numbers I've seen on air flow seems way higher than just about anything else. How are they doing this? Are they brushless?

They are on the pricey side but I run a dual ARB in our Jeep and have had it for years and never have had any issues. We wheel alot and overland. I use them to air up our 37s, 2 air lockers, and a pneumatic sway bar disconnect. Also run it with two 1 gallon air tanks. My good friend has a similar setup with the Napa brand dual compressor (orange) and has had no issues but it's also less than a year old. It provides a little more CFM but at the time I had the money and have never had anything negative to say about the ARBs

I've seen 2 ARB air lines(orange tire inflation hose) get too hot and burst holes or the ends come off. Trash the hose and get a better one

That's definitely an important thing to keep in mind is the heat. I use the ARB 6mm like which is a little thicker wall then the old blue 5mm line and has held up well. Also my entire air system is inside the Jeep so I don't have any engine heat to play a part. So far to this day I have not had any heat issues with the heat the compressor makes even with running constantly for 10min or so

I also always carry some extra air line and a few push connect unions just to be safe.

Good practice for any system! I haven't seen the blue 5mm or black 6mm air line burst. I meant the orange air hose that they come with.

Are you comparing the dual to a single other brand compressor? Cause yeah, that dual compressor is just two of the singles (plus a cooling fan), so it moves over double the air. I'd love one, but my single does just fine for my little 32s. Now if you want volume... Find a Warn powerplant winch. Runs a compressor off the winch motor and puts out 4x or more what an ARB twin does! They are flat nuts.

I use the ARB orange hose that comes with the air up kit for airing up or using air tools. From the compressor to my female air chuck is about 12" so fairly close. When running to fill all 4 tires or even a friends, the base of the orange line does get a little warm but nothing that would warrant it melting or blowing. Now if you're compressor is under the hood, I'm sure there is some additional heat to the equation.

They've recently updated the hose. Also, if the end does blow off, you can separate it, cut a new end, and put it back together easily.

    It's just a cheap hose. a Flexzilla 1/4x25ft hose is like 15$

You're paying for duty cycle rating and the ARB letters. While ARB are rated for 100%, there are some other brands that are also 100% rated, for much less $$.

I ran a VIAIR setup on my '09 Cummins and was impressed but I don't have any basis for comparison. I mounted the tank and the compressor where the spare used to be up under the bed since I had a full size spare mounted in the bed. If I had it to do over I would run the compressor inside the cab to keep grime, muck, and moisture from being sucked into the compressor filter and would have the tank mounted where the spare was.

The best part of onboard air is running an air horn - I had a Wolo "The Chief" fire engine trumpet on the truck and only used it when I really needed to get a driver's attention and man, did that thing work! Same trumpet that is on a fire engine and at 150 - 200 psi did that thing wail@! I wasn't a dick like the guys on Horn Blasters that use their train horns to scare the shit out of pedestrians in front of Walmart but I could have.

Had to google that... looks like they're discontinued now. Too bad, seems like a great concept for someone who needs a winch and a compressor and doesn't want to do multiple installs.

You can find them used every once in awhile. Buddy picked up both of his that way with no issues. But yeah, total bummer they are discontinued. Honestly won't fit in a lot of bumpers. they are pretty sizeable.

Yeah, they look huge; much larger than I'd like on my truck, but they seem like they'd fit well on a full size or service truck.

They are the only aftermarket bumper that's crash rated so there's that.
Personally, I don't like how on the Tacoma they stick out like a diving board. Good luck with parking.
At the end of the day its all up to preference.

He's talking about compressors. not bumpers. but you are correct. That's a major reason I'm running one. Air bags work proper. as do crumple zones.
