Can you share a few more pictures? Side shot on fit to cab, rear shot topper door matching with tailgate? How does rear door and tailgate work together, does it seem like a good fit?

Looks good. I have convinced myself that this is the best topper out there now.

I'll take those specific angles this weekend. The rear door and tailgate fit well and form a good seal, other than at the outer corners. But, for my usage, the lack of being perfectly dust/water/air tight not a big deal.

How do the clamps compare to the rsi smartcap. I like the front sliding window on the rsi but the gfc looks like it will hold up better to road virbarations with the frame. I’m hoping to sleep in the back of one of these on a platform.

Finally got the Platform RTT mounted on my GFC Topper last night. I sandwiched two sets of their Outrigger blocks by drilling holes for two 3/8" bolts as well as using the original mounting holes for dowels to increase shear strength. A couple passes down a rough dirt road showed no signs of movement (thankfully).

Best part, it clears my garage door!

I've been wondering about this setup. a topper and a wedge style tent. i like the look of the flush together, but if you added a small gap would you're mpg not drop as much? the gfc camper topper, all in one thing, ive read you typically lose 1-3 mpg. i would guess its because all the wind hits the front of the topper and can only go around the sides, and not the top. so if there was a gap, would you lose as much mpg?

Not sure what you mean by adding a gap. Do you mean suspending the RTT above the topper, like with the GFC Beef Bars? I don't think that would improve gas mileage, in fact it would likely do the opposite. This setup keeps the overall height lower and allows wind coming up and over the windshield to flow over the RTT more easily.

I'll report here if I experience a significant MPG hit but it should be minimal.

yea if you has used the gfc beef bars there would be like an inch gap between the top of the topper and the bottom of the tent.

i don't have any experience with wind resistance, just kind of speculating and curious.

but going up and over the windshield then over the rtt makes sense too.

i’m sure the weight contributes to this as well. It’s like what, 270lb?

I think it looks great!! You would never know it’s not the camper version, and yours looks more streamlined to me.

Can you open the topper from the inside? I can't remember if the GFC topper has that as an option or not.

NM... It looks like it is according to their website.

Yes, there are latches on the inside so you can lock that back panel but still get out if you’re inside the topper.

This is a pretty slick looking platform and was one of the two that made my short list. I ultimately put a deposit down on one of the new Alu-Cab Contour canopies about a month ago. I'd probably have been happy with either, but the GFC penciled out to cost a fair bit more. I do like the honeycomb roof and the latches that can be opened from the inside on the GFC. That's smart. I like the positive pressure vent and sliding cab window (access for cleaning rear window) on the Contour.

    @greymachine

That combo looks pretty slick. GFC should make an option where you can run it as just a topper, or, you can take the top of the topper off, and add the tent to make it a bed-accessible wedge. That would be pretty dope.

The camper is ~275, and I think the topper itself is ~130.

Agreed! I might eventually modify this setup to allow for bed access from above...

Someone that owns a GFC topper should do a video review of it. I still have not seen an independent video anywhere online.

I just got a quote on an alu cab contour canopy.. price after install was exactly the same as a GFC.. both right around 5400!, with similar lead times..

Any reason to go alucab over gfc? im inclined to go with USA based company for same cost.

Just can believe that not only have the prices ben established where they are , that even with "economic downturn" they are selling faster than they can make/import them! bananas.

Can anyone with the Topper (or a regular camper GFC) on a 6-foot bed check the top and bottom horizontal spacing on the diagonal bars?
