Had to do another run to JFK yesterday, but I was rewarded well.
Hmm, somebody must have lost these. :anonymous:

I need to go to JFK in September to pick a friend up. Hoping the weather is good that day so I can take my Miata down instead of the Taco. The narrow roads down there will make me feel like I have all the space when in the smaller car :)

I took the FJ as I had passengers and luggage.

Last time I took the Taco, about 5 years ago, it was a nightmare.
I don't have Easypass, so I get the bill in the mail. They billed me at a commercial rate because I have Combo plates on the truck.

I disputed the bill and was told that it will be fixed. Next I get a bill for $200 with a penalty.
Again, spoke and wrote a dispute with TollsbyMail.
OK ,we'll take care of it.
Another month goes by. New bill over $400.

At this point, my Sister told me to cut my losses, you'll get screwed more.
Sooo, I end up paying over $400 bucks for a shitty trip to JFK and return.

They literally got you by the balls.
And for what? Running Ct Combo plates on a private Taco?
I hate that fuckin place. :bananadead:

Do combo plates mean you have to stay off the Merritt?

I believe if less than 7500#GVW, no lettering/business name and size requirements according to DMV site.
Not enforced much from what I see.:notsure:

    @bucktales

I had a similar situation with my combo plates in Vermont tolls were not involved however I was stopped for going 45 and a 25 the speed limit sign was behind a tree branch and he couldn't even see it the cop said my license plate and my truck was not registered so I said well my registration says I am and if you don't like the results have your Chief call the state of Connecticut to verify that my truck is legally registered with insurance turns out in the state of Vermont there license plate tracker system at the federal /state level does not recognize combination plates they have cars or trucks no combination plates so the cop got an education so I can understand clearly why the combination Plate could be a hassle and get you billed at commercial rates because my truck didn't exist as a registered vehicle but anyway enjoy driving your trucks your cars whatever I ride my drive my truck and motorcycle and have a good time

A side note I did not get a ticket the cop was too confused to even try to figure it out

No I use the combination plates on the Merrit Parkway quite frequently it's not an issue as long as you don't exceed the weight limit for the highway which I think is 7,500 lb
    However no trailers are allowed

IN VT I had the same plate number on my car & motorcycle. One was a car plate, one was a motorcycle plate. Custom plates were cheap so I figured only one number to remember & it was the same plate number I surrendered in my previous state. So easy.

When I first registered a truck in CT I was told I could get combo plates, or I could get passenger plates - BUT - if I had passenger plates I could not carry anything in the bed, not even a bag of groceries. Dunno, but that's what I was told.

So that was a little weird.
Curious if JC Whitney still exists, I typed jcwhitney.com & it took me to carparts.com.
Okay, reorganized or someone bought a well-known name.

It's laid out like those old catalogs so...
For fun I decided to price new headlight assemblies for the car.
Right & left together as a pair is 125$, couple bucks cheaper than buying them separately.
BUT if I buy the headlight assemblies kit, it includes bulbs - for the same price.

I think for $125 I'm done polishing headlights on the car for a couple of years.

Good morning CT. Happy Friday!
Looking at replacing my battery and terminals today/this weekend.
The battery is getting replaced because I'm not sure how old it is, it's a AAA branded battery and with me adding the compressor and a winch later on, I think it's time. The terminals are getting replaced because I'm adding accessories and I need a couple more spots to attach wires. Hopefully the terminals aren't too tall so when I shut the hood ... :boom:
I need to buy a hydraulic crimper and some battery wire ends.
