I wonder if they have the same asphalt crew traveling to the road courses or if they hire local crews.

 

I'd think the F1 track engineers are there to supervise in some capacity.

 

Considering this is the only road circuit in the states it’ll be local.

 

And it’ll be a shit show trying to get around during g the event. The traffic is ridiculous with all the paving.

My company paved Phoenix International Raceway - now simply Phoenix Raceway and it was supervised by ONE person from NASCAR. It was simple. Once the paver starts, it doesn't stop until it's complete. No cold joints and no waiting for trucks. I imagine the streets of Vegas will also be similar. Side note, my dad and brother worked the Phoenix Gp in the early 90s. Yes, it's true that the manhole covers had to be welded down because during FP1, a few of them were sucked off by the vacuum, the cars made when passing over them. AND... Sir Jackie Stewert is an amazing man.

 

I don't see how they could do that here in LV with the traffic flow as busy as this place is, they currently have a small portion of the north side of the Blvd stripped down 6 inches, looks like they'll be paving that section pretty soon. Maybe they will do all the major repairs that are needed and then do a skim layer on top closer to Nov?

It'll certainly be a spectacle here but tbh I wouldn't pick this as a race i'd like to see in person. TBH it's probably be cheaper for me to fly back home and get tickets to the race at Silverstone!

 

Last time I was in LV it rained and the asphalt was like ice. So, hoping for a rainy race!!
