Can you back the bumper into a wall, I want to see how much sponginess is in it?

Forgive me, my higher education did not consist of English so not looking for a lecture.

I think that some of the comments were due to this picture:

    bumper1.jpg

Only one bolt is visible here. With only one bolt, plus another on the opposite side, the bumper could pivot up/down around these bolts.

I looked to see how my gen 1 bumper is bolted to the two C-channel brackets, and took this picture (from the outside looking in):

    bumper2.jpg

Good news is that the C-channel bracket has a second bolt at the rear (not visible in the OPs picture). I bet that the OP used this bolt also, so that should help alleviate most of the concerns about the bumper pivoting up or down.

    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
Doubtful. Most of them are based on the overall construction and using a 2" receiver for a bumper mount and the resulting moment arm that's longer than the stock bumper-tow setup. As long as OP watches tongue weight and capacity and is as fluent in towing as their posting/English, they'll probably manage.

The good news is the heat from this thread has probably stress-relieved the welds by now.

Don’t listen to these clowns. Can you make me one to fit a 3rd Gen? The bolts will need to be black or it will look out of place.

If you had one of these, you wouldn’t need to be driving a Ford right now.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I'm a big fan of DIY and budget builds, not gonna hate on your design. If you're happy with it and it functions as you want - job well done!

But I do agree it is not safe for any towing or hauling with the way it's bolted up to the frame.

I used to get upset at my need to over-engineer and overbuild my fab projects, but now I'm perfectly content being the way I am versus the alternative.
