Hey everyone, I am new here, but thought I would consult you all on a problem I am having. I currently bought new rims for my truck and a 4 inch lift as well, but I cannot decide what tire to get. My wheels are 17 inch Raceline Rockcrushers (887B-79050) and I want to put 34's on my truck. I want wider tires that will pop out past the fenders by about an inch. I was thinking about ordering some Toyo Open Country A/T III LT305/70R17 121/118R E. Will this work? I dont know enough about tires to pull the trigger on anything. Advice and/or Recommendations would be appreciated!

Your wheels have a 0 offset. I believe you're gonna need wheels spacers or a new wheel with a negative offset to achieve what you want.

I have 17x9 -12 offset wheels and my tires stick out maybe close to an inch.

I would get those tires in load C if available. Got 285/75 R17s in Open Countrys and they have been great after 2k miles. It took me a lot of work to get them to fit with no rubbing: aggressive cab mount chop, upper control arms, 2.75" lift, front and rear fender liner trimming, -10mm offset rims, 3.5°s of caster (regear is a must at this point which I will be going with 5.29s and I have an OTT tune) It is a lot of work for these trucks but it defiantly won't be the same, good or bad.

Play around with this: Then look for tires in the size you like best. You'll need the specs for your old and new wheels to see what the difference is in stance.

The more negative offset your new wheels have the more it will stick out past the fender. Positive goes in

Yeah the negative offset is key. My wheels have a -18 offset and stick out about an inch past the fender flares or whatever those are called.

I would not recommend to use spacers to achieve this look. Too many crazy stories about wheels coming off due to bad spacers.

You will not catch a person who is experienced in working on an automobile referring to what you are as a rim. A rim is a a component of a wheel. Teenagers and dipshits call truck wheels rims. Just a pet peeve.

Uh... look at who you're quoting. I never called a wheel a rim. You said that with bicycles, a wheel is called a "rim"... that is not correct.

Your wheel offset will have a way bigger impact on the poke than tires. You need to buy the right offset, and the tire will poke regardless of what one you buy.

Chill Bert. A wheel is an assembly, typically comprised of three parts. The rim, outer ring that the tire seats to. The hub that bolts to the vehicle and the spokes or assembly that connects the two. Typically on autos they are called wheels and on bikes they are referred to as rims. It all depends on where you are from I suppose but in my life and travels that is the slang. It was a lighthearted comment. If you would like to call the round shiny circle things that go round and round on your mode of transportation rims you have the right to do so. I did not initially quote anyone. Simply made a comment. It is you who quoted me and decided to plant your flag on this hill for some reason. We can disagree, it’s cool. I’ll survive. With a little time I suspect you will pull through it as well.
I mean, hell. Even women have dicks now! There are no rules!! Call them whatever you like.

Been in the trade a long time. We call them rims in my area, who cares.

I think this will need a larger spacer than usual, I never really recommend beyond the typical 1.25" spidertrax, they should push the tire out a bit and get you most of what you're hoping for.

Toyo AT3's are a good choice, really any of the top brand AT tires will do you fine.

Wheel offset (more negative) and backspacing (smaller number) make the tires (tires + wheels) stick out. 0 offset will not do it, plus the tires may rub w/ the UCAs since the backspacing on those wheels appears to be 5". Find a wheel 17" wheel, at least 9" wide w/ 3.50" backspacing and -38mm offset for your 34" tires. And then get ready to potentially trim and cut some material to prevent rubbing.
