Spoke with Julie at the Lakewood-Laona Ranger office this morning and confirmed that the entirety of 55552 is closed until 2025, sadly; the Forest Service is not accepting any outside/private help to expedite its opening.

That said, there are no other OHV trails closed, to their knowledge. There is some ongoing clean up of Jones Springs near Sawyer Lake Road, primarily lumber and scrap wood, but otherwise everything else is open for use.

Also, I'll have a good friend of mine joining me. He'll be tent camping and it'll be his first time doing OHV trail stuff.

 

Found out this evening that I won't be pulling shrubs with the winch this weekend, so, maybe I can get the sliders finished (about an hour's worth of welding left), sandblasted and hopefully painted so the paint has a week to cure before installation. May not get the solar panel installed on the cap but maybe can get the KickAss wired to the main battery between this weekend and next...we'll see.

Any more details for the Bear Paw Lake camping? Kimm'r will miss this one, but says that I can go play. Is camping 1st come 1st serve or do we need reservations? I can be there Thursday or Friday. Is this the place?

I plan on being up there late Wednesday or early Thursday.

There are no reservations, so depending on how many people we have, we might have to have someone set up on that other site right away so that we can be nearby.

My plan, at this point is to get set up, and either go do some exploring, or I might put the kayak in on Thursday. Friday fun day, Friday night hang out at camp, Saturday. Fun day, Saturday night. Hang out at camp. So, a pretty relaxed trip.

 

Sounds pretty perfect to me!

 

Have a half day of PTO that Friday, so probably arriving by 3:30 or 4:00pm.

Had to get my DOT physical this morning. On the way there, I'm running up I41 and a guy pulling a camper merges. I got a big laugh: (Anal) Explorer.

Looks like I should be up to Bear Paw by noonish on Thur. I need to do an oil change and may knock that out before I leave.

 

I have that Friday off. I also procrastinate. SO I expect to be there early afternoon.

 

As of now, my plan is to take off directly from work next Wednesday. If anyone else is off Thursday and thinking about coming up Wednesday, let me know.
