People in CO and out west pay money for Arkansas Water from the Ouachitas. When I went to CO, I'm like what in the hell is going on?

I am like that. We have a very real and serious problem created by YouTubers who run paid subscription groups and collect click views. The trails have been rutted out by the Jeep community on 37" tires and ATVs. The county doesn't have the funds to do trail repair. It has become so bad in some areas that some days I wish for Jersey Barriers to be put up to close the trail. I don't know why, but they seem to drink a lot of Michelob Ultra. We have picked up so many cans.

But then we do have a county with the funds to keep the trails and water crossings properly maintained to support tourists. But they had the vision to start working on trail infrastructure 40 years ago to support the demands of tourists.

You have to work to find technical rock trails around here. Most are in ORV parks and stuff like that.

The concern here is usually misjudging a mud hole and getting bogged. A lot of them are just puddles with firm bases, but occasionally you’ll get one that’ll swallow a mud truck on 37s.

That really sucks, but yeah we run into the same out here.

My friends and I were out only to get held up on a trail cause a whole group of Jeeps were ahead of us and one or two were stuck. One of them had overheated from banging the rev limiter for a good minute so they parked and hung out there for a minute.

We stayed back, pulled off to the side, and grilled some burgers on the trail.

But when they finally up and left, we proceeded to go through and two of my buddies got stuck trying to get through these deep ass ruts created by 40s or whatever they were running. Especially hate when that shit happens on narrow trails and/or in the snow which is where it happened to us last time.

I got stuck as hell in a mud hole that had been rutted out by guys with 40" tires. It just keeps getting worse.

There is an area that I like where ATVs are outlawed. The county slabs the water crossings to keep the environmental impact of high traffic on country roads to a minimum. They also grade the trails to keep them from becoming rutted out. It looks more like Colorado with well-maintained trails.

Luckily I’ve yet to come across any trails that have been rotted out like you’re describing. Maybe it’s limited to Johnson County. I was swarming to go to Soainhour Falls at some point though so hopefully that trails in good condition

Fuck I wish they outlawed ATVs in a lot of areas.

See out here a lot of that stuff is BLM, so you can legally shoot, etc and as long as you're not venturing towards private property or killing any endangered animals or hunting without a permit, it's free game.

You need to rely on locals.

Do your friends go off roading? If not, gain some that do.

The problem was mostly created in Johnson County. I would like to go back in time before Youtube to experience the trails before they were torn up.

The problem is "the problem" was caused by people enjoying seeing tragedy on the trails via youTube. So it's a sad case of schadenfreude that people like to live out at the expense of the environment.

I need to go try to find Spaihour Falls sometime. It looks like there is some hiking involved.

From what I’ve seen you can drive right up to the falls. I just hope it isn’t trashed and torn up like you said since it’s accessible right from the highway
